Production of complete radio sets, radio parts and accessories and radio batteries in Canada during 1927 was valued at $8,789,171, an increase of 140 per cent over the value of $6,324,851 for 1926, and 22 per cent above the figure of $7,110,628 reported for 1925- Output of ccnplete radio receiving sets amounted to 147,500 sets valued at $3,748,622 in 1927 as against 142,1430 sets worth $2,253,098 in 1926. Returns were received from 141 estab1islsents in this field of which 13 produced complete radio receiving sets worth $3,7148,622; 19 made storage or dry Ce].l batteries valued at $2,572,993, and 6 mad.o vauurn tubes worth $1,3141,7148. Other lines of :roduction included complete transmitters, battery eliminators, transformers, telephones, loud speakers, aerials, condensers, coils, couplers, panels and other miscellaneous parts and accessories. This survey does not include the great number of custom workers who assemble or build sets and parts to order as only 15 firms, out of a total of 141 finns reporting, had a production valued at less than $25,000. As reported to the Bureau by Mr. Lynn T. Meekinc, United. States Trade Commissioner at Ottawa, the exports to Canada of radio sets and parts from the United States during the aalendar year 1927 amounted In value to $3,7.63,903 and included the following items: 28,925 receiving sets worth $1,128,893; 107,1143 tubes valued at $1 145,051 and$1,859,818 worth of parts and accessories. Radio licenses were issued by the Department of Marine and Fisheries during the fiscal year ending March 31, 1928, to 268,055 persons as against 215,650 in the corresponding period of the previous year. Ontario led all provinces with a total of 125,012 and quebec was next with 51,3147 Registrations in the other provinces were as follows: Saskatchewan, 26,635; Manitoba, 19,288; British Columbia, 18,561; Alberta, 114,936; Nova Scotia, 7,106; New Brunswick, 14,1475; Prince Edward Island, 587; Northwest Territories, 914, and Yukon, 114. Licensed broadcasting stations were distributed as follows:- Ontario, 38; Saskatchewan, 15; Alberta, 14; British ColumbIa, 13; Quebeca 9; New Brunswick, 4; Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, 2 each.
