Access Statement for Wheatsheaf Cottage, Nallers Lane, Askerswell, Dorset, DT2 9EJ. Introduction Wheatsheaf Cottage is a pretty end terraced cottage nestled in the village of Askerswell in the Asker valley beneath the Iron Age hill fort of Eggardon Hill. The cottage is a recent conversion of a Grade II listed stone barn which also boasts a pretty and enclosed garden offering a peaceful location in the shadow of the 15th Century St Michael's Church Tower. The Spyway Inn, reputed to be an old smugglers haunt, is located in an elevated position within walking distance and offers a choice of local ales and home cooked food. The nearby market town of Bridport has a wealth of interesting shops selling local produce and antiques; and both the Georgian town of Weymouth and the historic town of Lyme Regis with their sandy beaches are only a lazy drive away. The nearby Jurassic coastline offers a delight for fossil hunters and spectacular view points all along this special part of England. Pre-Arrival The holiday letting of Wheatsheaf cottage is fully managed by Dream Cottages Ltd, Weymouth. Dream Cottages provide the holidaymaker with a detailed brochure, website and personal advisor who knows the property well and is able to provide answers to all pre-arrival queries. The telephone number of the Housekeeper is provided by Dream Cottages to the holidaymaker immediately prior to their arrival so that any last minute queries can be dealt with.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities Wheatsheaf Cottage has a share in the clearly signposted car park opposite the cottage where the holidaymaker may park two cars. The car park is laid with shingle and the walk to the cottage is approximately 20 metres over a smooth tarmac road on a slight incline. There are no kerbs, speed bumps or unusual road characteristics. The Housekeeper will have provided information prior to arrival on collecting the key. Dogs are not permitted. Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area Accommodation: Lounge/diner. Kitchen. 1st floor: Bedroom 1, king sized four poster bed. Bedroom 2, twin single beds. Bathroom with shower over bath, hand basin and toilet. Wheatsheaf cottage is a two storey, stone-built barn conversion with two double bedrooms. There is a small entrance lobby giving access to the sitting room and to the upper floor via a wooden balustrade stair case.
