Central Coast British Car Club Inc. June 2017 S eering Wheel he www.ccbccau.weebly.com editor email = ccbcceditor@gmail.com The Sunday Run for May was to the Richmond Vale Railway Museum the only exhibition where you have to catch a full size train to be able to see all the exhibits! Unusually, especially for such an interesting destination, only a few cars undertook the expedition. A report from Therese and more excellent photos from Robbie are on page 7. Minutes: CCBCC Monthly Meeting MINUTES OF MEETING of the CENTRAL COAST BRITISH CAR CLUB to be held on the 16 th May 2017 in the Wattle Room, Ourimbah RSL Club. APOLOGIES: Wiltons, Hardimans, Souths, Greg Denning, Graham Lloyd. This general meeting was abandoned due to the fact there was a fire in the kitchen of the Club and we all had to be evacuated to the Club carpark. However, there was one matter which required a cheque to be made out this week for a deposit for the venue for this year s Christmas Party on Saturday, 2 nd December. Gail Goff advised the members (in the carpark) that the Christmas Committee of the Goffs and Souths had visited a number of venues and the one which most suited our needs was Linton Gardens at Somersby. Cost is $57.00 per person which includes canapes and glass of champagne on arrival, followed by a two- FLEECE JACKETS Photo from Don Hardie course meal. More details will be provided at the June meeting. Linton Gardens required a deposit of $500.00 to secure the booking and, after discussion with the members, Gail proposed that we accept the venue. Seconded by Julie Curtis. Jane Howard proposed we pay the deposit, seconded by Janna Meek. Carried. 3rd May There wasn t any report for the Wobbler s Run this month, but fortunately there were lots of photos from Robbie Gee and Greg Denning. From those it looks like the run to morning tea at the McKenzie Reserve in Toukley and on to lunch at the Lake Macquarie Yacht Club was most successful. Thanks to Rod and Joan South for their planning and organisation of the day. Here s a selection of the best photos from our two great photographers who very frequently contribute to the Steering Wheel: Robbie Gee and Greg Denning! More Wobblers photos next page: Page 4

Noggin n Natter with Craig & Therese Saturday 13th May Craig and Therese Bond opened up their new home at Toronto for our Noggin n Natter this month. On a cool day many arrived around 3pm for a start on afternoon tea and this went on to a 6pm Sausage Sizzle by which time many others had turned up to enjoy excellent company. Craig's new BBQ got a good workout. As large as the house is, our crew preferred to accumulate on the back patio with the cover of ceiling heaters (what a great thing these are). Craig and Therese were both pleased with the excellent turn-out of members - it's not that far a trip on a Saturday afternoon. We all thank you both for a good time. Report from Jeff Glanville Photos by Jeff and Greg Denning Page 6

SUNDAY RUN TO RICHMOND VALE RAILWAY MUSEUM Well the weather man got it wrong again! Sunday turned on great weather for the run to Richmond Vale. Craig and I (in our MGB) arrived at Ourimbah RSL car park to meet up with Robbie and Leoni Gee (Rover 75) and Geoff Moore (MGB). We set off north up the M1 and turned off at the Kurri Kurri exit where we met up with David and Margaret Phillips in their MG TC. We arrived at Richmond Vale where we parted ways with Geoff and proceeded into the grounds to display our three cars. We all took a ride on the steam train and explored the museum and lots and lots of model train displays! There was a lot of interest in our cars especially the TC. Good fun and great company. Report from Therese Bond Photos from Robbie Gee Page 7

PRESIDENT'S RUN DAY SUNDAY JUNE 25th. We will be spending the day at Morisset Recreation Park in the grounds of THE OLD MORISSET MENTAL HOSPITAL This is on the right just after you cross the railway bridge at the top end of Morisset s shopping strip. The attached map shows the spot for our picnic down near the water at The Recreation Hall. The Club will be supplying bread rolls with ham and salad for lunch. As far as all of your other requirements go, such as morning tea, extra nibblies, fruit, alcohol and so on, please bring your own. We will not be meeting at Ourimbah to start the day instead please go directly to the Hospital and arrive around 10am for a full day. If you can bring along any games such as boulle, football, cricket bat and ball, badminton racquet and set or any other games, please assist by doing so. If you have any requests or questions please contact me beforehand. Importantly: I need to know how many will be attending so please let me know. I have heaps of names so far that were indicated to me at the Macquarie Yacht Club Wobblers and at other times. Thank you to those people - but I need to hear from others. Hope you come along for a fun day. Thanks. JEFF. Page 8

HUNTER ALL BRITISH DAY SATURDAY JULY 15 Planning is well underway for this year s Hunter Region All British Display Day. We have some exciting changes and additions coming to enhance your experience on the day. V8 Supercars are coming to Newcastle in November, and that has construction implications affecting Foreshore Park, so we have had to move the venue to Young Street, Carrington We have also changed the date to the middle of July - Saturday 15 th. It looks like being a great day with the change of venue and I would like to encourage a lot of our members to participate. Looking forward to catching up with everyone on the 15 th July! Harley Roberts ALL BRITISH DAY THE KINGS SCHOOL SUNDAY 27th AUGUST The annual All British Day at The King s School Parramatta is a highlight of the year. This is a spectacle not to be missed. The beautiful grounds and buildings of the historic Kings School provide a perfect venue for the vast assembly of cars. We need to know how many tickets to arrange for our Club, so would you.... Please advise Terry Hardiman (phone 4362 3686) as soon as possible how many cars and guests you ll be bringing! Call him today! Truly this is a wonderful event. There is excitement and pride to participate!
