President s Message The Royal Flying Doctor Service has contacted Rotary for assistance during the Summer Moon Festival Concert which is being held at Josef Chromy Wines on 15 th December. Lee Kernaghan is one of the big names on the day. This is a fundraiser for the RFDS. Rotary has been asked to do the parking and to assist in donation collection and the entire project will run for 12 hours. Volunteers can decide how many hours they work, with the minimum being 3 hours and if you do volunteer, you then get free entry to the concert. I will discuss more about this at the meeting, but anyone who is interested and won t be at the meeting can contact me and I will give you more information. I would also like to remind everyone that our Christmas Party is at Villerett Gardens on Sunday 9 th December, 12 noon for 12.30pm. I shall send around the name list tomorrow night for those who weren t at last week s meeting. I shall also have copies of the menu at tomorrow night s meeting and you will see that there will be a choice of 4 mains and 4 desserts with tea/coffee and chocolates. The cost is $36 per person plus drinks. I need to have numbers advised to Villarett by 2 nd December. On Thursday evening, Michael Plunkett and I attended the Deloraine & Districts Community Bank Grant Presentation Evening, where we were presented with a cheque for $7,700.00 which is to be used for the Function Centre improvements and this money specifically will go towards painting the outside of the Centre and new curtains in the Ian Knight Room. President Maree A German Shepherd, a Doberman and a cat have died. All three are faced with God, who wants to know what they believe in. The German Shepherd says: I believe in discipline, training, and loyalty to my master. Good says God, you can sit on my right side. God then asks: Doberman what do you believe in? The Doberman answers: I believe in the love and care of my master. Aha says God, you may sit on my left side. And he looks at the cat and asks: And what do you believe in? The cat replies: I believe you are sitting in my seat.

For the Attention of ALL Rotarians Re Programme The Speaker programme is an important part of Rotary. I was asked if I would look after the speaker program for the Rotary Club of Deloraine, which I agreed to. There have been instances where members have organised speakers and set dates without referring to me. From my point of view this is unacceptable, I welcome members to make suggestions to me concerning speakers and ask to contact me before dates are set as this will ensure conflicting dates are avoided. John Dare Programme Chairman Please Note This Date.... Tuesday 15 th January, 2019 Car Rally Plans are underway for a Car Rally which will be held in January 2019. The plan is to commence at 5.00pm, and participants will be sent on their way at intervals. Participants will receive directions to our destination, and along the way you will need to note certain landmarks, travel a certain distance down a particular road, maybe collect something, etc. etc. Therefore a half hour direct trip, could take up to an hour, by the time you follow the clues. This is planned as a social meeting, and Rotarians who do not want to follow the clues can obtain the final destination, after all participants have left. Once we all arrive at the final destination, we will then enjoy fellowship over a meal. This is open to family and friends. Over the next few meetings, this will be promoted, and Rotarians will be asked to indicate their involvement either as a participant or just meeting for meal and fellowship.
