Recreation Hunting & Wildlife The ranch attracts a wide variety of wildlife with thousands of acres of national forest at is boundaries. The Wallowa s are home to a large number of elk with good forage and water right out the back door. Other game animals often seen are mule deer, turkey, black bear, and mountain lion. Oregon has the second largest elk herd in the U.S. just behind Colorado. The ranch is located in unit #54, in the Mt Emily hunting zone, which offers general season archery hunts and control hunts for firearm hunters. The ranch owner can receive 2 LOP tags. The ranch and the adjacent land owners control a great deal of access into the national forest, allowing fairly private utilization of the forest beyond the ranch from the bottom.
