PLEASE NOTE This package is based on accommodation in Classic Banda suite at Saadani Safari lodge and an Eco suite at Saadani River Lodge. All lodges are closed from 1 April - 31 May each year Depending on the passport you carry a visa may be required The luggage limit on all shared charter flights in Tanzania is 15kg in a soft sided bag. All inter-camp flights in are subject to multiple pick-ups and drop offs en route to your destination which could affect the flying time.
DAY ONE TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK Arrive Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by a Sanctuary representative and transferred by private vehicle to your lodge located on the outskirts of Arusha. The remainder of your day is at leisure. Arusha Coffee Lodge is located on a coffee plantation on the outskirts of Arusha. Designed around the original plantation houses but completely renovated to achieve the highest standards of comfort, the décor is luxuriant and stylish with undertones of the bygone days of early exploration. Each of the 18 plantation houses has been lavishly furnished and features a split level living area and a private deck. The lodge also boasts a coffee shop, patisserie, conference facilities and a swimming pool. Arusha Coffee Lodge (Partner hotel) Meal Plan: Lunch and dinner 1 night DAY TWO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK Early this morning you will be met and transferred by private vehicle to Arusha airstrip for you onward flight to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival you will be met by a Camp Representative and transferred to Swala camp in our customised open safari vehicle, driving time is approx 30 mins with game viewing en route. Sanctuary Swala is located in an exceptionally private section of Tarangire, one of the most exciting yet least visited parks in Tanzania. The main dining area, lounge, deck and library feature contemporary African design under traditional thatched structures. A stunning infinity pool looks out over the waterhole which is frequented by elephants as well as the big cats that are often seen amongst the surrounding baobab trees. DAY THREE TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK This morning awake to the sounds of the bush as a steaming hot cup of tea or coffee is served on your tents deck. The rest of the morning is at leisure to enjoy the activities on offer. Return to your camp where your hosts will greet you with a refreshing drink and a well-deserved lunch. The afternoon you have time to take a refreshing swim in the pool or relax on your private deck with a cool drink and gaze out to the waterhole and watch as the game lazily congregates in the shade to escape the midday sun. As the afternoon progresses you may like to return to the Tarangire on an afternoon game drive. Return to your lodge to freshen up before meeting around the camp fire for a pre-dinner drink as you discuss the day's adventures. Sanctuary Swala DAY FOUR TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK Start your day by leisurely watching the bush come to life from the private deck of your tent. This morning may be spent on one of the activities on offer. Following lunch there is time to take a refreshing swim in the pool or relax on your private deck with a cool drink and gaze out of the water hole to watch as the game lazily congregates in the shade to escape the midday sun. As the afternoon progresses you may like to return to the Tarangire on an afternoon game drive. The beauty of Tarangire unfolds as you venture out into the baobab scattered landscape. Migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland can all be seen in addition to lion and leopard. During the dry season the concentration of wildlife in the Tarangire is second only to the Serengeti ecosystem. Sanctuary Swala
DAY FIVE SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK Rise this morning for an early breakfast before transferring to Kuro airstrip for your light aircraft flight to the Serengeti. Flying time is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Upon arrival you will be met by a Sanctuary Kusini representative and transferred to the camp. Driving time to Sanctuary Kusini is 15 minutes from the airstrip through the Serengeti with game viewing en route. Arrive at camp with time to freshen up before lunch is served. Accommodation is offered in twelve double tents which are scattered around the main kopje. Each tent is attended by a personal tent attendant and has en-suite facilities with hot and cold running water. Private verandahs with comfortable furnishings extend in front of each unit. The dining area, lounge and library are housed in the main area, which affords spectacular views from its wooden deck and the adjacent kopje. This afternoon get a glimpse of why the Serengeti is an icon of Africa on an afternoon game drive before returning to camp to freshen up before dinner. Sanctuary Kusini Meal Plan: Breakfast, Picnic lunch and Dinner 3 nights DAY SIX SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK Remain close to camp with morning and afternoon game drives. Alternatively you may prefer a full day game drive into the heart of the Serengeti with a picnic lunch. The open plains spread out as far as the eye can see so it is no surprise that the name Serengeti comes from the Maasai language meaning "endless plains." The park itself covers 14,763 square kilometres, making it one of the world's largest wildlife sanctuaries and hosts one of the world's largest land migrations. Every year 1.5 million wildebeest migrate from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara followed by hundreds of thousands of zebra, gazelle and other plains game in search of fresh grazing pastures. Sanctuary Kusini is ideally placed to catch the migration that can be round in this area of the park from mid December to April when the zebra and wildebeest drop their young. Sanctuary Kusini
DAY SEVEN SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK Whilst at Sanctuary Kusini you have the chance to contribute to cheetah conservation through the Cheetah Watch Campaign by submitting your sightings of cheetah in Tanzania to the Serengeti Cheetah Project. On a morning game drive learn how to identify cheetah and record their behaviour before combining this data with photos and a record of their location.this information is sent to the Cheetah Project's researchers who use it to help them monitor cheetahs, and in return will provide you, where possible, with a background of your cheetah, including its name, age and its family history. Return to your camp this evening to freshen up before dinner. Following dinner this evening retire to the kopie where you may take this rare opportunity to enjoy a star safari as the camp manager unravels the myths of the night sky. Settle in at the dining tent for a deliciously prepared meal before retiring to your tent after an eventful day of game viewing. Sanctuary Kusini DAY EIGHT SAADANI NATIONAL PARK This morning you will be transferred to the airstrip for your shared light aircraft flight to Saadani Airstrip. The flight is subject to multiple pick-ups and drop offs. Arrive at the airstrip where a Saadani Safari Lodge representative will meet and transfer you to the lodge. The transfer is approximately 15 minutes. The lodge is located on the Southern border of Saadani National Park and has six eco-friendly suites, each with ocean views opening on to the sandy beaches of the Indian Ocean. The lodge offers a variety of activities ranging from traditional game drives to sand bank picnics to a Maasai Community Tour. The sandy beach is home to fishermen reeling in their daily catch and near to the Wami River. Sanctuary Saadani Safari Lodge Classic banda 3 nights
DAY NINE & TEN SAADANI NATIONAL PARK The day is at leisure to enjoy the activities on offer. You might want to explore the area from game drive starting straight from the lodge's 'front door' in comfortable 4x4 vehicles. The park is the only coastal wildlife sanctuary of its kind on the eastern coast of Africa and so the game safaris are completely unique. The big four are frequently spotted around the lodge. The cool ocean is also the perfect place to visit the underwater world. The lodge is able to arrange for guests to set out on a motorised boat to a nearby sandbank where equipped with snorkelling masks and flippers guests could take a swim in the blue crystal clear waters and admire the coral and fish which have found their home in the waters off the beach. Sanctuary Saadani Safari Lodge Classic banda DAY ELEVEN DEPARTURE After breakfast, a camp representative will transfer you to the Saadani airstrip for your flight. The time of the transfer will be advised to you locally by the camp management. Kindly note that all inter-camp flights are subject to multiple pick-ups and drop offs en route to your destination which could affect the flying time.
