Dear Guest, We hope you are excited for the upcoming HANSON s Back To The Island 2016 destination event. Everyone on the HANSON and Island Gigs team is looking forward to bringing together a fun and memorable experience. This document contains all the information you ll need to get your trip started. Once you are on location at the Jewel Paradise Cove, our Island Gigs ground crew will be happy to help you with any other questions or requests. We hope that your pre-trip experience met your expectations and your on-site experience will be even better! GROUND TRANSFERS & CHECK IN For those arriving on the day you check-in, go through Immigration, then claim your luggage and proceed to Customs. Enter the Green line if you are a tourist and have nothing to declare. After you have cleared customs, continue through the doors to the Ground Transportation area with your luggage. Once in the transportation area, proceed to the Jamaica Tours Limited (JTL) booth, which is Jewel Resorts Transfer Compay. The bus ride to Runaway Bay is a bit under an hour. Upon arrival at the Jewel Paradise Cove you will be escorted to the front desk for check-in. Check-in is normally at 3pm. If your room is ready you might be able to check-in early. If it is not ready, you can certainly take advantage of the everything the resort has to offer. Please be aware that each room will need AT LEAST ONE CREDIT CARD ON FILE FOR INCIDENTAL CHARGES. ISLAND GIGS STAFF / TOUR DESK Just past the check-in area at Jewel Paradise Cove, there will be an Island Gigs desk with representatives to assist you with your questions and help arrange the side excursions offered. For your convenience, our Help / Tour Desk will be open from Tuesday, Jan 5 th - Saturday, Jan 9 th (see schedule for times). HANSON HOSTED ACTIVITIES In addition to the many pursuits that the resort has to offer, HANSON will be hosting several activities. In order to ensure that as many people as possible can attend, each session will take place twice. Your Back To The Island laminate will be marked either Red or Green and admittance will be based on the color of your laminate. Bracelet Making Session with Zac - will take place on Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 11am. Green Passes can attend on Wednesday and everyone with a Red Pass on Thursday. Tie-Dye Session with Taylor - will also take place on Wednesday and Thursday mornings mornings at 11am. Everyone with a Red Pass can attend on Wednesday and everyone with a Green Pass on Thursday. Trivia Contest with Isaac - will take place on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at 3pm. Everyone with a Red Pass can attend on Wednesday and everyone with a Green Pass on Thursday. Afterparty with Taylor - will take place after the show on Friday night and is open all attendees. We will announce the location on site. Get ready to party!
LIVE CONCERTS During Back To The Island, you will also be able to attend live concerts featuring HANSON and friends. Each evening will feature live music, with HANSON performing three concerts, and one concert featuring Parachute and Paul McDonald. Night 1 - HANSON Night 2 - HANSON Acoustic Night 3 - Parachute and Paul McDonald Night 4 - HANSON In addition, for the 3 rd year in a row, the band will each be playing a mini solo concert. Day 2 - Zac Solo Show Day 3 - Taylor Solo Show Day 4 - Isaac Solo Show SIDE TRIPS & ACTIVITIES In addition to the HANSON hosted activities outlined, we are offering 2 different popular side trips: Dunn s River Falls and Bob Marley s 9 Mile Tour. Space is limited so we recommend that you sign up for the side trips either by calling Island Gigs at 646-862-6380, or when you check-in to the hotel at the hospitality desk. If you call to pre-book we will need pre-payment to your account. Both tours include Round trip bus transportation, English speaking tour guide, Entrance fee to the attractions. Since they are on the same day and time you may only choose ONE! Dunn s River Falls Visit Jamaica s No. 1 attraction, The world famous Dunn s River Falls. You will climb this amazing work of Mother Nature. Scale the 600 ft limestone rock formation as water cascades past you and splashes into the ocean below. Small pools of water and excellent photo opportunities will greet you along the way. Definitely an experience of a lifetime!! Cost: $50 US per person Bob Marley s 9 Mile Tour Drive along the Coast before turning through the mountains to Nine Miles, a quaint village in the beautiful mountains of St. Ann. It was here, on the 6th of February the legendary King of Reggae was born and it is the very same place where he was laid to rest. As you pass through the rural countryside, your driver/guide will tell you about some of the events that have occurred in this area, and provide cultural information about Jamaica and its people. A tour of Nine Miles is a family affair as many of Bob s close relatives live there. The tour takes you through the simple house Bob lived as a young boy. Learn about places where he gained inspiration for some of his greatest songs, such as Three Little Birds and Talking Blues. You can also see the rock he sang about. Local Rastafarian guides will tell you stories about Bob Marley's early days, his life, musical career and his love of football and women. Then visit the mausoleum where he was laid to rest. This is considered a sacred place, where shoes must be removed, and candles can be lit in his memory. There is a display of photographs and album covers that document his career. Return to hotel. Cost: $65 US per person
WATERSPORTS - FREE FOR USE Located on a pristine beachfront, this all-inclusive Jamaican resort offers guests plenty of ways to make memories while experiencing the warm waters of the Caribbean. From boat rentals to underwater adventures to the best kayaking in Jamaica, our resort has your fun waiting. Water Sports Shop is open at 8:30am 4pm. Some activities require you to reserve. SIGNING & PHOTO OP HANSON are extremely grateful to all of the fans who will be traveling to Runaway Bay to share this experience with them and want to give everyone the opportunity to have a picture with the band if they wish. In order to do so in the time allotted and eliminate the need to line up early and take away from everyone s fun in the sun, please read the following instructions to help ensure that the line moves quickly and efficiently. This will take place at 1:30pm Friday, Jan 8 th in the Lobby / Guest Lounge area. HANSON will also be signing a photo for each person, which will be handed out when you have your photo taken. While the band appreciates the effort and loves seeing your memorabilia, we ask that you do not bring merch, pictures, etc to Jamaica. We ask that you do not begin lining up until 1pm. It will be a beautiful day, please enjoy it. JEWEL PARADISE COVE RESTAURANTS & BARS Please note that Island Gigs has worked with Jewel Paradise Cove to have them waive the DRESS CODE for the 5 th through the 9 th of January. This still means no bathing suits, tank tops or cut off shorts except Court Jesters and Aquamarina. Delight in the diverse variety of restaurants and bars at Jewel Paradise Cove Resort & Spa. The very casual eatery (bare feet and bathing suites are welcomed) at our Jamaican resort and spa serves made-to-order sandwiches, burgers wraps and jerked treats and salads, perfect for a light snack while soaking in the rays on our beach or at our three sparkling pools. TEMPERATURE / CLIMATE Jamaica enjoys a year round warm climate and daytime temps in the mid-80's to low 90's F. The sun is extremely strong and protection is highly recommended. Although rain is possible at any time of the year, when storms pass through, they are generally strong but brief. Evenings in January are generally cool and comfortable. Dress is very casual. Pack lightly! HOTELS / ELECTRIC POWER The electrical system is the same as the United States so there is no need for special adaptors for Blow Dryers or Irons. The water is safe to drink and the food is safe to eat. Patience is very important when dealing with hotel personnel should you need assistance. If there is a problem you cannot resolve, contact our Island Gigs representatives. GENERAL SAFETY Although Jamaica's resort areas are safe do not wander off with anyone you do not know. Simply put; just use common sense!! It is recommended that you leave your valuable jewelry at home. The resort rooms come with in-room safes. It is recommended you store your valuables such as passport, plane ticket and money in them. When leaving the resort be careful on the roads. Try to walk single file if you are traveling on the roads as traffic can be very hazardous. CURRENCY / MONEY EXCHANGE The legal currency is the Jamaican dollar, which many refer to as JA's. The current rate for the Jamaican dollar is about $110 JA to $1 US. Money can be exchanged at the airport, hotels, restaurants or any local bank. Traveler's Checks are also a good idea. Although many establishments will accept US dollars at their own conversion rate it is wise to convert your currency. Most restaurants & shops accept major credit cards. DRUGS & ALCOHOL Despite some Jamaicans' casual attitude about drugs, they are illegal. Drugs are not tolerated by law enforcement. If you are caught you will be arrested and could result in a jail sentence and/or a substantial fine. Should a problem arise, contact the Island Gigs Reps. Under no circumstances should you attempt to bring any controlled substance off the island of Jamaica. This is not a risk you should take! There is no "open container" rule in Jamaica and drinking on the beach is legal. You can leave an establishment with your drinks if you have a paper cup. Discretion is the rule for alcohol consumption. Don't drink too much. This is a foreign country. HOTEL CHECK OUT & DEPARTING TRANSFERS Please settle your hotel bill if you have incidental costs like spa services and other room charges. Your return transfer will depart from the Jewel Paradise Cove. If you do not have a flight the day you check out we can arrange a transfer, but to the airport only. Please check with the transfer desk in the lobby. Confirm your return trip when you arrive. Most transfers depart 4 to 4.5 hours prior to your before your flight time.
