WELCOME WELCOME This summer Passport welcomes children from over 20 different countries and brings together friends from all over the globe. Our inclusive and diverse community allows campers to learn from each other and to appreciate cultural similarities and differences in a fun, friendly and safe camp environment. We offer a variety of enrichment programs tailored to your child, from ages 21 months to 14 years, including Science & Nature, Music & Movement, Sports & Games, Arts & Crafts, Swimming, Field Trips and more! AMERICAN CAMP ASSOCIATION ACCREDITATION ACA Accreditation means that Passport Summer Camp cares enough to undergo a thorough (up to 300 standards) review of its operation from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. American Camp Association collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices at your child s camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation. Passport Summer Camp and the ACA form a partnership that promotes growth and fun in an environment committed to safety. GENERAL CAMP JUNE 20-AUGUST 19 (WEEKLY) TINY TOTS: (21 MONTHS-2.9 YEARS OLD) This program is specifically modeled after and run as a Montessori classroom. It is an ideal option for campers entering our CMS Toddler program in the fall, as it introduces and exposes campers to the Montessori philosophy, materials and space, while building relationships amongst students and staff. To provide campers with consistency and time to adjust with separation, campers must commit to a 4 or 8 week duration, which will maximize their summer experience. 4. Summer 2016 Passport Summer Camp
GENERAL CAMP JUNE 20-AUGUST 19 (WEEKLY) LOWER CAMP: (3 YEARS OLD) A loving and nurturing environment is the primary consideration for our 3 year olds. This program is tailored to meet campers needs with staff who are experienced and responsive to young children. Our Lower Camp program is specifically designed to accommodate your camper s individual skills and abilities that focus on consistency, safety and independence. MIDDLE CAMP (4-5 YEARS OLD) Our Middle Campers participate in a full day of camp activities in small groups overseen by experienced counselors. Campers rotate through a variety of specialist-led activities, which challenge and enrich their day. This child-centered environment gives our Middle Campers the attention and care they need, allowing them to build close relationships and memories with encouragement and support. GENERAL CAMP JUNE 20-AUGUST 19 (WEEKLY) UPPER CAMP I: (6-9 YEARS OLD) UPPER CAMP II: (10-13 YEARS OLD) Children in the Upper Camp participate in a busy week, full of Passport specialist-led activities tailored to their age and interest, including science & nature, sports & games, arts & crafts, swimming and weekly field trips. All of their camp activities have opportunities for individual decision making, allowing them to meet challenges with confidence and enthusiasm. SPECIAL PROGRAMS SPECIAL PROGRAMS: HALF DAY: (9:00AM-12 NOON) FULL DAY: (9:00AM-4:00PM) Special Programs are morning-focused, specialized programs which are led by experienced and professional staff. Program space is limited to ensure the highest level of camper support and encouragement. Campers have a choice of leaving at noon or staying for a full day of camp fun by joining our General Campers for afternoon choice blocks. MONTESSORI MORNING-PRIMARY: (3-5 YEARS OLD) JUNE 20-AUGUST 19 (WEEKLY) Primary Montessori Mornings emphasizes on independence, freedom within limits and respect for a child s natural development. Campers will work in groups or on their own. Taught by certified Montessori Teachers this program reinforces the Montessori philosophy over the summer and supports the transition from the Toddler experience to the Primary classroom. This program is a full day or half day experience. Full day program campers join Passport General Campers for lunch and afternoon camp activities. Half day campers are picked up at noon. MONTESSORI MORNING-ELEMENTARY: (6-9 YEARS OLD) JUNE 20-AUGUST 19 (WEEKLY) This program introduces children to new classroom work, and helps prepare children by developing skills needed for the upcoming school year. Elementary Montessori Morning is taught by certified Montessori Teachers. The curriculum and teacher s role are carefully designed to honor self-paced growth while encouraging social cooperation. This program is offered as a full day program only; campers join Passport General Campers for lunch, afternoon camp activities, and a field trip each Wednesday. SPORTS CLINIC WITH ALEX!: (8-13 YEARS OLD) JUNE 20-24 Let the games begin! Join CMS PE teacher and coach, Alex Tzelnic for the ultimate in sports fun. Campers will have endless game play all day long in Danehy Park playing gaga ball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, and experience Parcore, as well as a friendly competition game with campers from another camp. SPECIAL PROGRAMS BOSTON LEGENDS SOCCER: (6-9 YEARS OLD) JULY 11-15 HAPPYFEET SOCCER: (4-5 YEARS OLD) AUGUST 1-5 Campers will join the talented and experienced coaches from Boston Legends and HappyFeet Soccer to learn new skills in a fun approach that ensures your camper will have an absolute blast. This week long clinic is designed for campers to gradually develop more physical skills and self-confidence. CIRCUS: (8-10 YEARS OLD) JULY 25-29 Spend the week learning from professional circus performers from Building Circus-Boston! We ll balance feathers on our faces, juggle with scarves and flower sticks, and balance people on our shoulders. We ll spin plates, swing upside down on ropes, and juggle anything we can get our hands on. We ll also learn that messing up is the only way to get better! The week will culminate in a camper-created performance showcasing everyone s talents! MIXED MEDIA ART: (9-13 YEARS OLD) AUGUST 1-5 Create beautiful glass tiles, beads, necklaces and bracelets, learn how to make soap and homemade paper under the guidance of the talented artisans from DeNault Studios. Campers will be able to take home many projects during this week of creative expression! OUTDOOR ADVENTURES: (10-14 YEARS OLD) JUNE 27-AUGUST 19 CMS faculty member Alex Tzelnic leads this program for campers looking to explore a wide variety of exciting venues in and around New England! Campers will take off on daily excursions for adventures like: Kayaking on the Charles, Whale Watching, Canobie Lake Park, Sky Venture and Take Flight, just to name a few. SPECIAL PROGRAMS BUILD IT YOURSELF: Build-It-Yourself specialists from the Harvard and MIT community and from around the world will inspire and guide students with on-site instruction and via live webcasts, leading them toward an enriched understanding of the way things work. COMPUTER CONTROLLED PUPPETS: (8-12 YEARS OLD) JUNE 20-24 First you ll design and build a band of computer-controlled, funky puppets that act out a storyline written by your team. Then, construct an elaborate stage and record sound effects and dialogue for your puppet. Finally, compile all your resources to make a stop animation video. MINECRAFT 101: (8-12 YEARS OLD) JUNE 27-JULY 1 You will build a state-of-the-art Minecraft laboratory where you can invent till your heart s content. Minecraft, one of the most popular computer video games today, enables builders to exercise their creativity in ways not possible before. Building complex machines, designing logic systems, and creating imaginative structures are some of the skills used in creation of this 3D virtual world. Inventors will experience the thrill of building in a fun, artistic environment. EMERGING LEADERS: (10-14 YEARS OLD) AUGUST 1-5, AUGUST 8-12 This program fosters friendship, group unity, collaboration, leadership development and fun! These young adults choose their activities within a themed week of Community, Adventure, Leadership, and Camp. Campers will also experience camp activities including team games, crafts and nature. SPECIAL PROGRAMS SMALL GROUP TUTORING & LEARNING SUPPORT AT CMS: (6-13 YEARS OLD) JUNE 20-AUGUST 19 (WEEKLY) Avoid summer learning loss! Summer tutoring is now available at CMS for students who need extra work in math or reading. Participants do not have to be CMS students. Working in small groups, students will have a 50 minute learning support session that can be incorporated into the Passport Camp experience. Please see website for pricing. AUGUST COMMUNITY CAMP: AUGUST 22-26 This program is a special week for campers of all ages. Campers ages 6-14 will be off campus each day to local venues like Boston Public Garden, Blue Hills Reservation and Kimball Farms. Campers 3-5 years old will have daily morning trips, while toddlers will be on campus each day enjoying the park and special camp activities. Space is very limited for this week. VACATION CAMP VACATION CAMP: (21 MONTHS-14 YEARS OLD) FEBRUARY 16-19, APRIL 19-22 Passport offers a four-day vacation camp during February and April school breaks. Campers ages 21 months to14 years will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety activities, including arts & crafts, indoor and outdoor sports & games, cooking projects, music, movement and stories. PASSPORT ACTIVITIES FIELD TRIPS Campers in Lower, Middle and Upper camp will enjoy a weekly field trip to various exciting locations around the Cambridge/Boston area. Day trips offer campers a memorable experience with their friends and counselors! SPECIAL VISITORS During the summer Passport will host special visitors at camp to entertain, surprise and delight campers with animals, music, dance, magic, and stories. Special visitors are announced well in advance so that families may participate as well. FAMILY FRIDAYS Four Fridays during the summer Passport Summer Camp will host family events where campers, siblings and parents/guardians come together for an afternoon of fun, a chance to meet other Passport Camp families and talk with camp staff. EARLY CARE & EXTENDED DAY Early Care and Extended Day provides care and enrichment for all campers each morning and afternoon. Our goal is to provide campers with a meaningful extension of their camp day in a safe and familiar environment. Early Care is provided from 7:30-9:00am and Extended Day is available from 4:00-5:30pm each day. Drop-ins also available if space permits. Our child is so excited about going to camp each morning! We love hearing her sing all her favorite camp songs.
