Club Presidents Report Sunday the 8 th February saw the Northam Aero Club unveil the Foundation Members Plaque. There are 21 names on the plaque made up of the original steering committee and those that attended the Inaugural meeting on the 18 th December 1968 held in the Northam Ambulance Hall. It is amazing to think we now have around 120-130 members. The original development of the airfield was paid for half by the Northam Aero Club and the other half by the Town of Northam. In June 2009 the airfield was donated back to the Shire of Northam. Of the 21 members I was able to contact 10 who all gladly made the unveiling, a very enjoyable time was had by all. We were very honoured to have Mia Davies perform the unveiling. A very big thanks must go to Rob and Di Tinetti for the plaque, Nigel Way for the sign writing, Steven Ashley from West Coast Props for the donation of the prop. Also thanks to Ashley s famous scones, Kate and the ladies of the kitchen for supplying the early morning tea. Thanks to Denis Beresford for the manufacturing and installation of the monument. Once again, well done everyone. Our two instructors are being kept very busy which is excellent news. We are also having good numbers turning up for our Flying Competitions on the 2 nd Sunday of each month. Even some of our Inaugural members got to fly with us in the comp. Happy Flying all and watch out for those huge cumulus clouds they can make flying very bumpy. Cheers, Errol

Club Captains Report Errol and Denis have done a lovely thing in erecting an airfield monument to the Founders of Northam Aero back in 1968. WELL DONE - I can see it is in the perfect position and will still stand a hundred years from now. Heather,Kate,Ashley Beth and Marg did a stirling job of catering for the large crowdmuch appreciated too. After the official unveiling ceremony, all Pilots assembled in our Briefing Room for our Monthly Comp. Sunday 8th February NAC Comp. GOOMALLING RECONNAISSANCE. Nominated Times with Radio Calls Wheels Off to Wheels On with bonus points for safe spot landing. All Pilots were issued with the same VNC map with the same tracks marked in,and a fully detailed procedure sheet with all Radio calls including full and correct wording. Our Pilots are sent these full details 30 days before the actual comp each month also. Each Pilot nominated his own time for the journey to Goomalling, orbit and identify 3 ground features and return via Grass Valley to Northam Airfield. Judges opened sealed nominated time envelopes at Debrief and posted results compared to actual times etc. on the white board... All Pilots flew safely. Judges' comments: Correct and full Radio Calls were the main difference that decided the finishing order. JUDGES were Matt Bignell and Dave Beech. THANK YOU to our Judges-a hot day sitting out on the strip when it got to above 40 degrees! Our Judges are pivotal to the growing success of our Monthly Flying Comp. We value and appreciate your very professional input Dave and Matt! A big welcome back to Tony Rees who says he enjoyed the day also! RESULTS.. First Peter Hill Cessna 152 VH-BFC. Club Captains report cont./... Next month Comp is Sunday 8th March -WONGAN HILLS SORTIE- full details to follow. TEAM NAC will fly to Wongan Airfield and perform Circuit work on arrival in form of a Strip Inspection followed by a standard circuit with Short Field landing and full stop. Dave and Marg will then whisk us all away to a poolside lunch and return us to the airfield for a 3 pm departure. Please let me know how many will be participating in this one. Ground Support teams can drive up to Wongan also of course, please let me know on 0450415947 or email prh@aurora.net.au. Cheers, FLY THAT SKY. BUNBURY AERO CLUB OPEN DAY To promote aviation to the general public, to enable pilots to fly in, exhibit their aircraft and enjoy a great day! SUNDAY 22nd March 2015 More details to follow later.

The Outback Air Race (or more precisely time trial) is a GPS based series of flights (legs) around Australia, it is held every three years and the next event is 23 rd August to 4 th September 2015. The route will be around 2500 nautical miles. But that does not include some of the competitors travel and time to get to or from the event! So if that is included as well, the total distance travelled may exceed 5000nm for some teams. For further information go to http://www.outbackairrace.com.au/ For donations to Malcolm and Rachel (Team 10 True Blue) please go to https://oar2015.everydayhero.com/au/true-blue All donations are tax deductible.
