The New Zeaand Schoo Trustees Association (NZSTA) profie NZSTA is a membership organisation of approximatey 2,200 schoo boards (91%) which incudes approximatey 14,500 individua trustees. NZSTA is a not for profit incorporated society with charitabe trust status. As the nationa organisation representing schoo boards of trustees, NZSTA: promotes exceence in schoo governance in New Zeaand provides nationa/oca representation and advocacy on a wide range of matters of importance to boards deivers comprehensive support services to assist boards in their trusteeship/empoyer roe, and promotes and faciitates ongoing professiona deveopment for trustees through education and training ORIGINS OF NZSTA The New Zeaand Schoo Trustees Association began in 1989 with the introduction of Tomorrow s Schoos. It was initiay formed from the remnants of the od Schoo Committees Federation, the Secondary Schoo Boards Association and the Education Boards Association. Member boards of trustees took contro of NZSTA foowing the inaugura annua genera meeting in May 1990, when member boards adopted the first NZSTA constitution. Since 1990 member boards of trustees have owned and controed NZSTA through a governing board eected by the membership. HIGH CREDIBILITY Since that time, NZSTA has estabished its credibiity with members, other stakehoder groups and with the Ministry of Education and Government as the nationa organisation that speaks for schoo trusteeship within New Zeaand. More recenty, NZSTA has received additiona Government funding which has aowed us to provide new and additiona services, and for the first time, to deiver a comprehensive and fuy integrated support service for a boards of trustees. NZSTA is the soe recognised nationa organisation representing the interests of, and deivering services to, schoo boards of trustees.
