Since 1886 The Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo has become, throughout the years, a contemporary and distinguished hotel with a historical spirit. Moving forward to fall 2003, the hotel embarked on a new chapter with a major restoration. The new five-star establishment re-opened in summer 2004 as Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo, representing the pinnacle of luxury with a new concept of prestige and hospitality. 2

WHAT IS OUR MAIN PROJECT? In concertation with the Municipality of Menton and the "Office National des Forêts", the Hotel s Green Committee headed by Elodie Robert, responsible for sustainable initiatives at the Metropole, worked on a highly symbolic project: giving olive tree seeds to children of the hotel s team members which they could plant on the site that had suffered from the fire. 09-09-15: a fire broke out in Menton. The hotel initiated the project: «Mon Arbre à Moi». The purpose: replanting olive trees on the site. 14-01-17: 114 olive trees were planted by Hotel s team members! 65 adults and 44 children were present! 6
BIODIVERSITY After the fire, without human help, the forest would have been made of one kind of tree only: the «Pin d Alep». Thanks to Hotel Metropole, this land is now populated with olive trees. The olive tree is a symbolic tree: which means longevity and hope, the olive tree is known to be eternal. A LONG TERM PROJECT Our General Manager, our Green Attitude responsible, Menton s Mayor and members of the «Office Nationale des Forêts». Every year, on the occasion of the «International Forest Day», are team members along with their children will go back on the spot to see the growth of their trees. In a few years, when the olive trees reach their mature age, it is planned to harvest olives to make Hotel Metropole Olive Oil! 7
FRAME Every child received a frame in natural wood containing a diploma. CAR POOL All the participants and journalists used car sharing in order to reduce gas emissions and respect the place. Our collaborators and their children after planting their olive trees. ANIMATION Two donkeys were present on this day, one for helping children to water the plantation, and one to make donkey riding. 8
We joined the initiative of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation: Monaco commit against Deforestation so we decided to plant a tree to celebrate this association. It was important for all team members that H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, due to his commitments in favor of the planet, supports this environmentally friendly and nice initiative. H.S.H. OUR PARTNERS Every Monday we give hygiene products and food to homeless people. Our staff participate in the distribution. Each year, for Christmas, we organize a collect of toys and teddy bears and give them to sick children hospitalized in the Lenval hospital in Nice, France. We are sponsoring a hive to save bees. We want to protect this endangered species by taking care of their environment. We give bottle caps to this association, they sell them and in this way they can help disabled persons to buy medical materials. Our Chef participate to a diner and all the raised funds are send to Benin, with the goal to embrace education. Used soaps are given to this association to recycle them and to redistribute the recycled soaps improving sanitary conditions of children and families in need.
OUR PARTNERS We give used clothes and mattresses to the association, to be distributed to people in need. Our concierges are selling scarves and the profit is given to a research against cancer. We take part of this project which involves constructions of schools in Nepal. We raise funds to finance the furnishing of schools. We are sponsoring a bio urban vegetable garden which is growing up in recycled wine. This is then offered and used by our restaurants. All corks from wine bottles are given to this association which sell them and give funds to research against cancer. «Wood Forever Pact» is fighting against deforestation, so committed to reduce our use of paper by approximately 10% each year.

FOR OUR GUESTS A new brochure is available for guests in the room, to raise awareness versus our Green Attitude during their trip and their stay. In the Metropole Magazine, we dedicate an article to the Green Attitude. 20
