Marion High School Band Disney 2016 Things to Know/Think About/Do 1. ALL School handbook rules and district policies apply at ALL times during the trip. 2. You will conduct yourself in a respectful manner at all times. We are not only representing ourselves, but also our families, our school, and our community. 3. BE ON TIME, IF NOT EARLY, FOR ALL SCHEDULED OR ANNOUNCED DEPARTURE TIMES AND MEETINGS. 4. Be informed! You (not your friends, not your chaperone, not the band director, YOU) are responsible for all information in this packet, as well as any information announced during the trip. I didn t hear that will NEVER be an acceptable answer. 5. Give immediate attention to all adults on the trip. This includes, but is not limited to: directors, chaperones, bus drivers, trip coordinators, etc 6. BE QUIET in the hotel. We are not the only people staying there, and we want to be remembered for a positive reason. 7. It is your responsibility to be awake and ready to go each morning. Set an alarm, get a wakeup call, or call each other. Do whatever you have to do to take responsibility for yourself. 8. NO co-ed visitation at the hotel. There are to be no guys in girls rooms and no girls in guys rooms. 9. Lights out=lights out. You will need your rest. 10. Be respectful and quiet in restaurants. There will be a wide array of types of restaurants to select from during our trip. If the situation designates, tip appropriately. 11. In case of emergency while in one of the theme parks, first find a Disney Cast Member or Universal Studios employee. They will direct you to the nearest first aid station. Then immediately inform your chaperone. Then go to one of the first aid stations. 12. We will have group meetings scheduled during the day at parks to check in with assigned chaperones. Meeting times and locations will be announced by chaperones upon arrival at the park each morning and will occur every 3.5-4 hours. Students who fail to promptly report to designated check-in locations at the pre-determined time will be left at the hotel the following day with a chaperone. 13. KEEP OUR BUSSES CLEAN!!! We will be living on them for several days. Pick up after yourself and DO NOT make a mess. 14. You are responsible for any and all electronic equipment or valuables you bring on the trip. If you choose to listen to music, watch movies, or play games on a personal device, you MUST use headphones. As always, even with headphones, if people around you can hear what you are listening to, then the device will be taken away by a director. 15. Be responsible and careful with your money. Budget wisely and don t leave extra money in your hotel room. 16. Straighten your hotel room each morning before you leave. Put all used towels/wash cloths, etc, in one location. Put all clothes, etc. inside dressers or luggage and zip shut. 17. Travel in groups NEVER ALONE. 18. We will only have one rehearsal in Florida before our performance. Be ready to take care of business!! 19. You will be assigned a seat on the bus. This is where you will sit for the duration of the trip. PERIOD. 20. Drink plenty of water!!!
21. ***IMPORTANT NOTE ON SHOPLIFTING*** Due to the recent increase of teenage shoplifting at area theme parks and attractions, please be informed that if caught, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Orlando has taken a tough stance on this problem and is no longer dropping charges on out-of-state students. Any students caught will be required to return to Orlando for a court appearance or have a lawyer appear on his or her behalf at that individual s own expense. 22. Have a GREAT TIME!!!!! Tips for travel 1. Wear comfortable clothes in which to travel. Bring a change of clothes to change into upon arrival in Orlando for your day in the park 2. Make sure to include toiletries in your carry-on luggage for easy access. 3. This will be a long bus ride. Bring a book CD/DVD player, games, etc. to entertain yourself during the trip. (All reading, gaming, and viewing materials that you bring MUST be appropriate.) 4. Snacks Each day you will be provided with 2 bottles of water, a bag of chips, and a snack to take into the park with you. There will also be water and some snacks available on the bus ride. If you decide to bring additional snacks please remember that the bus is an enclosed space and any snack that gives off an unusually strong odor may be taken up and thrown away. Remember any snacks you buy in Orlando will be more expensive. 5. There is a safe provided in each room in the hotel at no additional charge.
Packing Suggestions/Guidelines In addition to their instrument, students will be allowed to bring 1 suitcase to be stored underneath the bus and their band backpack to be brought onto the bus. Souvenirs and snacks purchased in hotels and theme parks tend to be pricy. You must also remember that you have to have the space to get anything that you purchase back home.
