Vol. 55 No. 1 California Chapter s Information Jan/Feb 2018 Source Since 1965 PRESIDENT s MESSAGE The November Thanksgiving Rally was another great outing with outstanding trail bosses: Terry & Cass Cassidy and Diane & Dave Glenn. It would not have been such a success without their enthusiasm and perseverance. Thanks to all who helped and especially to those who picked up the pieces when I got sick. Lon Cross made sure I got the bonehead award (very presidential of him). The WMHA rally in Indio this year was fantastic. Lots of hard work was performed by many of the attendees but, as usual, CCFMCA was front and center taking on numerous tasks. The paint crew, led by Sandy King, was the first on the scene shortly after Thanksgiving, prepping for the backdrop. Stage supports were erected under the guidance of Paul Flickinger. The detailed painting took a very coordinated effort, resulting in a beautiful representation of Viva Las Vegas. Thank you!! Sandy King put together a great float and won the Mayor s Trophy for all her efforts. Also, she was honored by being selected as Grand Marshall of the parade. Congratulations, Sandy well done!! And thanks to all who decorated the float and participated in the parade!! At the Chapter Fair, John & Carol Jones and Marilyn Franke acted as our ambassadors to recruit new members. Happily, we have 6 new couples who, hopefully, will be joining us at rallies this spring. Let s be sure to give them a big welcome! Carol Jones did a bang up job with the pet show. The contestants were having fun and so were the owners. Thanks Carol good job! (continued)

(President s Message) So glad to have Gerald Edwards back with us and helping with day passes. A huge thank you to him and to David Franke who helped so much with logistics and heavy lifting! All of the great volunteers are much appreciated!! Sarah would like to thank the volunteers at the Information Desk and the cashier s booth who answered a huge variety of questions and who made everyone feel welcome!! Looking forward to our 2018 Rally s and hope the attendance increases. The nominating committee needs your support. Please assist them as best you can, if you don t want to volunteer, make suggestions on who you would like to see elected into the various positions. Our Spot-Lite Director needs a replacement. He and his wife are taking a long journey and will not be able to produce the newsletter. If you are interested please contact me or David Franke as this is a very important part of our organization and we need help. Signing off for now. Stay healthy and be safe. I feel this is the best Chapter in all of FMCA. Key informational points about St. Patrick s Day Festival in the Desert March 15-17, 2018 If you are arriving Thursday, you must arrive by 6pm. The Park does not allow coaches arriving and being parked in the dark due to possible damage to their lighting structures. If you arrive after 6pm, you will be parked in a boondock area until 8:45 the next morning. As we arrive we all check into the office and then they will lead us to our campsites. All campsites are 50 amp. Bring appropriate pigtails to ensure you get electricity. All meals except one breakfast are being provided, therefore your Chapter badge is your meal ticket. No badge, no meal. Saturday night, besides the meal being provided by Mike Thompson RV, there will be live entertainment. Your meals will be served on paper plates. It is recommended that you bring your own table service, to include a cup/glass, and a plate to give the paper plate a bit of strength. Thursday night there will be Bingo. We will have a specific campsite, set aside, to gather and socialize, have refreshments, etc.
