Vol. XIX No. V May 2018 PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Now that the end of April is approaching that means the dreaded tax season is behind us. I don't know about you, but that leaves me extra money and me to work on my project. It has been a long me coming. In fact, I think it will be about three years ago when I cracked the drum and ate the low band in my 19 speedster during the 46th annual Endurance Run. At this point in the project I got my engine pulled and the transmission is apart. I just received my new drum from Dave's Restora on and Machine. If you are in need of new drums I recommend checking out Dave's site at www.davesrestora onandmachine.com. His prices are great and his turn around is quick. I hope to have the car back on the road soon although it won't be for this year's Endurance Run. Who knows, perhaps it will be ready for the 50th. I will keep everyone posted on the progress. Besides, I figure it keeps me accountable. It sounds like the Bakersfield swap meet had a great turn out and I am sure this message will find some of you going through your greasy and rusty treasures of joy. In all Pat counted 32 members who a ended. The youngest bargain hunters were Arlo and Cora with grandparents Peder and Maria and great grandmother Alberta in tow. Grover and Maryann kicked the touring season off with the 8 ci es tour where four Model T's will get their patches. Sounded like a lot of fun and I am really sorry I missed that one. Bill Bra has a great tour coming up on the 12th which also includes a visit to the new San Jose Fire house Museum. If you have not signed up yet reach out to Bill. Remember, it s the people, cars and places that make this such a special club. We have many miles to put on our Flivver s and many places of interest to visit. Un l then, drive safe and keep it between the lines. Dan 1

Vol. XIX No. V May 2018 RECENT TOURS 8 Cities Tour Saturday, April 28, 2018 Four T's, one A, one Lincoln, and one modern met at the Whole Foods Market in Cupertino. Nice cool day, few clouds, good for T touring. Grover zig zag routed us in a generally northwesterly direction finally arriving at the Alpine Inn in Portola Valley. This funky little tavern has been on this spot since 1850 and benefits from its proximity to Stanford. The tables are scarred and carved with initials over top of initials. Gotta give them credit, they turned out the burgers and fries at a good rate for this group of customers who suddenly appeared all at once. Departing the Alpine Inn, one more stop was made, at the Baskin Robbins ice cream store in Los Altos. What would the day have been without ice cream? Thanks Grover and Maryann for plotting out this tour. It was fun. Bob M 2
