From historic golf to sweet onions, the Historic South of Georgia has it all. In the northeast corner of the region is Augusta, where each year the world s top professional golfers compete in the Masters Tournament. Even if you re not a golf fan, Augusta is a wonderful city to explore. In the western part of the region is Macon, where history, music and sports are celebrated. In the north is the city of Athens, home to the University of Georgia, and also the birthplace of rock bands such as the B-52s and R.E.M.
