CPBR 2005 Annual Symposium March 1-3, 2005 American Geophysical Union (AGU) Washington, DC "Progress through Partnerships" Symposium Highlights Improve grant-writing skills for CPBR submissions. View and discuss the latest proposed research. Hear firsthand the groundbreaking results of CPBR research projects. Discuss industry research needs directly with company representatives. Network with university and industry scientists. Enlighten your members of Congress on the importance of biotechnology research. What Participants Said About the 2004 Symposium "I gained a better understanding of the group interests and company concerns. I also learned significantly more about the funding interactions of federal and corporate entities." "Face to face interactions with both industry reps and similar thinking faculty are hard to beat. I made some good acquaintances and hope to communicate with these people again." "I now have a better understanding of how CPBR operates, and what types of research are being proposed. The most valuable lessons had to do with industry/academia relations - approaches, communication, types of technologies, etc." "I now understand how vital the role CPBR plays in securing funding for these very vital research areas. These areas of research are so important for the future of this country and the world."
** Special Pre-Symposium Workshop ** "Writing Competitive Proposals for CPBR" Tuesday, March 1, 2004 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Winning proposals are developed through planning and experience. This workshop will describe how to develop a winning proposal from planning to writing. It will provide tips from successful researchers on how to be competitive in CPBR and other agency competitions. A CPBR funded proposal will be studied. Each section of the proposal will be discussed. Common proposal mistakes will be considered. Leaders of the review groups will be scientists who have been successful in CPBR competitions. Participants will be given the opportunity to act as reviewers in a hands-on exercise. Strategies for working with industry and getting industrial matching will also be presented.
