Well, this is one of my favorite times of the year! The days are getting longer and warmer. It s great to get out, ride and see how the country side has returned to a wonderful green and there s water everywhere. So, if you haven't already had your bike out for a ride.it's time. I was happy to see so many of you at our last meeting and we even had a few visitors join us...let's keep this up. After our last meeting it was brought to my attention that we didn't spend enough time on honorary members, so we will discuss this further at our next meeting, and also finish planning for our Dixon meet it's almost here. I'm writing this before our annual dinner at Cattlemen's, hope to see you all for a good time and good food. Well, my Cannonball bike is progressing nicely, but still a lot to do, and just like Dixon, the cannonball will be here before you know it, so back to the grindstone I go. See you all at the next meeting. Get those bikes out and ride. Our Next Meeting will be Saturday, April 2nd Your President, Mark Loewen At Sam s Hof Brau Watt and El Camino Avenues Lunch at Noon Meeting at 1:00 p.m.

The Fort Sutter Chapter Annual Dinner March 19th - Cattlemen's Restaurant Rancho Cordorva The 2nd time for the Cattlemens s Restaurant to host our Annual Banquet proved successful once again! The room, food and service was just right. Congratulations go out to Tracey Kleber (3 years in a row as our banquet coordinator) for her efforts in planning and delivering another successful event. Helping Tracey were Marie Moore and John & Phyllis Markley. Well done everyone! Why do we have an Annual Banquet? To celebrate, mix, mingle and enjoy time together, plus enjoy a great meal! Richard (Dick) Borchert 1916-2015 By Rich Ostrander: Dick Borchert quietly slipped his earthly bonds early last January at his long time home in Fair Oaks with his wife Barbara by his side. He was with us for 99 years as the consummate gentlemen, and master machinist. He retired from Aerojet many years ago. I met him (Rich) when I joined the Fort Sutter Chapter in 1982. Rich became a board member that year (1982) and stepped up to be our third President in 1985. He rode a beautifully restored 1942 military XA Harley Davidson, that was identical to what he rode during his service to our country. He also rode a mid-teens (1914-15) Indian when the club would have the pre-sixteen rides. In later years as Dick s sight began to fail, Shawn Ralls (club member) would drive him to the Chapter meetings, or Dick would take the bus. I remember seeing Dick at the early CAMA meets in SoCal and the early Borrego Springs rides. When Dick retired from Aerojet, where he worked as an inspector, the company gave him a nice hand built cabinet when he could store some of his measurement tools. It now rests on a shelf in my shop with my measurement tools. At times I gaze at the brass tag (affixed to drawer face) bearing Dick s name and remember him fondly.
