Itinerary DAY 1 ARRIVE IN MAUN & FLY TO CENTRAL KALAHARI Arrive at Maun airport by 1:30pm, grab your luggage and meet MT Sobek staff after customs. Together, board a small-plane flight to Central Kalahari Game Reserve, for the first game drive to the camp, delight in endless scrub-covered dunes and ancient river valley scenery, and look out for first glimpses of desert wildlife: blackmaned lions, brown hyenas, and honey badgers. Cap the day off with a hot shower, then step out on the veranda for night views of the Kalahari Plains. Activity: Game drive in open 4X4 vehicle Meals: (D) DAY 2 EXPLORE THE CENTRAL KALAHARI GAME RESERVE After breakfast, opt for a full-day Deception Valley safari adventure across fossil riverbeds crucial to the Kalahari ecosystem. Look out for stunning herds of herbivores the golden springbok, antelope, gemsbok, red hartebeest, eland, and kudu. Sit still for a session of cheetahs hunting wild dogs or join a half-day trace of local wildlife by four-wheel drive. Expert boatmen meander through the waterways in eco-friendly fiberglass canoes, modeled after the traditional mokoro. Relax on a long ride through narrow channels, cutting through mats of floating papyrus across deep-water lagoons.
