Many Waters District Fall Camporee October 6-8 Many Waters 2017 Expedition Almelund Threshing Grounds Almelund, MN

Welcome to the Many Waters 2017 EXPEDITION! District campouts are all about fun, providing scouts of all ages with the opportunity to camp with friends, join in the fun, try something new, and share camaraderie with other scouts. This year s Many Waters Expedition is going to be educational (FUN!), full of new experiences (FUN!), and give a taste of the old way of life (FUN!). Our base camp for the weekend will be the Almelund Threshing Grounds. For Saturday s events we will be the welcome guests of the river communities of Taylors Falls, MN and St. Croix Falls, WI. We will start the day s activities with a river boat ride in the morning. After a catered lunch we will break into two groups to tour each river town. Maps will be provided. Complete the historic hike and the answers on our questionnaire to win a medal. Saturday night s closing campfire hosted by world famous MC Straub Man & M.I.C. will be the best ever with skits done by patrol, the awards ceremony, and a special appearance by Gallagher! Troop leaders will be asked to assist at one of the afternoon activities. Webelos are invited to attend. This helps smooth the transition to the troop and to start being included in troop and patrol activities. Quote from Camporee Guide: A Camporee is many things camping fun for youth, the thumping of hundreds of feet on the way to an event campfire, and the blue smoke from fires cooking stew or ham and eggs. It s the patter of rain on many tents at night. It s the ripple of the wind-blown flags in the morning sun. It s catching the idea of teamwork in a Troop. It s learning to carry out an order to help the team succeed. 2017 Fall Camporee Team: Bill Buffalo Bill Straub, Co-Chairman Rusty Rusty Johnson, Co-Chairman Darin MC Straub, Asst. Chairman, Campfire Coordinator Mike MIC Heinen, Asst. Campfire Coordinator See you there! Table of Contents Greeting 2 Policies and Guidelines 3,4 Schedule... 5,6 Webelos Information 7 Roster 8 2

Webelos Information Introduction: Attending a camporee is a Webelos Scout s best opportunity to learn about Boy Scouting first-hand. This is an essential part of the transition to Boy Scouts. The Webelos attending will camp, work, and play with the Boy Scouts they will soon join as they continue through scouting. Webelos leaders should accompany their Webelos as they participate in camporee activities to observe and record their advancement. Webelos will have the opportunity to complete several Arrow of Light requirements and work independently on Webelos Activity Badges. Webelos should camp with a Boy Scout Troop for the weekend or may attend for the day on Saturday. All Webelos should register for the camporee with a Boy Scout Troop and participate in the activities as members of patrols within that Troop. Webelos Advancement: Attending the camporee will satisfy the Arrow of Light requirements for participation in a Boy Scout activity (Requirement #4) and camping overnight (Requirement #5). Leadership Requirement from the current BSA Guide to Safe Scouting: A Webelos Scout may participate in overnight den camping when supervised by an adult. In most cases, the Webelos Scout will be under the supervision of his parent or guardian. It is essential that each Webelos Scout be under the supervision of a parent or approved adult. Joint Webelos den / troop campouts are encouraged to strengthen ties between the pack and troop. Den leaders, pack leaders, and parents are expected to accompany the boys on approved trips. 7
