Secretary Mike Bowman 0409 502 754 mike.bowman14@gmail.com Treasurer Paula Partington 4055 3152 / 0417 730 878 pawnee1966@yahoo.com.au Events Co-ordinator James Fullerton 0417 451 676 jcm65@bigpond.com Property Officer Bob Aller Newsletter Editor Kristie Partington kristiepartington@yahoo.com.au Webmaster Rob Healey rob@allaboutweb.com.au The Power cruise went off really well and thanks to James and Amanda for their organising and running of the event. All who attended had an enjoyable day in spite of the weather change which resulted in a wet drive home from Julatten. What is National Motoring Heritage Day? National Motoring Heritage Day is an initiative of Australian Historic Motoring Federation, with the aim being to promote and display Australia s strong motoring heritage and also to show the community, businesses and government the strength of the Australian historic motoring movement. This day is ALWAYS the 3rd Sunday in May. All QHMC clubs are encouraged to participate in an event on the day as, without promotion of our hobby, the government and community support may gradually fade and concessional registration schemes may be lost. Our vehicles are a mobile museum, of which we are the custodians; they need to be viewed and enjoyed by the public The above is an excerpt from the minutes of the QHMC agm, what do you think about organising an event in support of the day? Safe cruising, have a happy and safe Easter and see you all at the meeting on 26 th March. Bruce 2

Paddy Power Memorial Cruise & Poker Run 2017 Every year we celebrate the life of one of our founding members, Paddy Power, with a memorial cruise and poker run in March to coincide with St Patricks Day. The morning started off with the sun shining and about 40 people there to receive our first 2 cards at Smithfield Bunnings. We left heading towards Port Douglas with approximately 20 cars. After a quick morning tea stop at the turn off into Hartley s Crocodile Adventure s where we enjoyed homemade biscuits thanks to Paula & soft drink. We received our second card and we then headed to the carpark of the IGA Port Douglas to obtain our third card and regrettably 2 of our members had to retire and return home after a problem with their car. We continued on our route and headed for our final destination the Highlander Tavern at Julatten for lunch, where we were joined by more members from the Tablelands. The final card was given out and the results were decided, the 2017 male winner with a pair of Kings & Queens was John Partington, the female 2017 winner for the second year in a row with 3 Queens was Lorraine Bayliss. We also had prizes for the best dressed leprechauns, the best dressed male was Jarrod one of the Power clan, the best dressed female was Vicki Somerville. We had a couple of extra prizes to give away with the hard luck story going to Mike & Steve. A great day was had by all and thanks to everyone that attended. Caitlin Fullerton 4
