The tug was handed over by yard director Mr. Jos van Woerkum to the new owners Tug and Workboat Company Herman Sr. BV (Jack van Dodewaard) The Bommel is a new type (prototype) Shoalbuster 2509 from the Damen Shipyard Hardinxveld- Giessendam The Bommel has a length of 24.99 meters. She is width 9.00 meters and has a depth at sides of 3.19 meters. Her draft aft is 2.40 meters. She has a displacement of approx.. 275 tonnes and a gross weight of 174 tonnes. 3/8
Propulsion system: The main power is provided by a pair of Caterpillar C32-TTA Acert diesels each developing 746 bkw (1,000 bhp) at 1,800 rev/min. This is delivered to a twin screw arrangement of Promarin fixed pitch propellers turning in 1,800 mm v.d. Giessen Optima nozzles via Reintjes WAF562L gearboxes with reduction ratios of 5.947:1. On trails, this configuration gave the vessel a bollard pull of 24.5 tonnes and a free running speed of 11 knots. The 175 bhp bowthruster is hydraulic driven. The rudders are fishtail 45 degrees turning. 4/8
Auxiliary equipment: The Generator sets are John Deere two 4045TFM76 units, each of 60 kva, 50Hz 230/400V. The fuel separator is from Alfa Laval MIB308. The transfer pumps for water and fuel are SIHI with a capacity of of 32m3/hr at 3.5 bar. The Caterpillar C-90 TA hydraulic set has a capacity of 315kW at 2,250 rev/min with clutchable hydraulic bowthruster pump. The Alup SCK 10-8 Compressor has a capacity of 1.2 m3/min at 8 bar. Deck layout: The deck machinery comprises a double drums Ridderinkhof hydraulic driven Anchor winch a 40 ton @ 6 m/min anchor handling winch and a 9 ton @ 20m/min towing winch with a holding power of 75 tons. The HS-Marine AKC 145LHE4 deck crane has a lifting capacity of 4,650kg at 17.00 mtrs. On the aft deck is a set of MKB quarto pin type towing pins fitted and a Dromec HPV-12000 tugger winch installed with a 12 tons capacity at 4.5 m/12/min. The Shoalbuster 2509 has the possibility to install a A-Frame with plough with a 25 tons SWL and 10 meters plough of 8 tonnes. The two Pool anchors have a weight of 270 kg and 225 kg and the chains have a length of 137.5 meters short link 19 mm chain. 5/8

The bridge has a beautiful good looking layout with an around view over the fore deck, aft deck and sides. This Damen Shoalbuster is again built to the highest standards.
