SPRINGFIELD ACTIVITY CENTRE And CAMPSITE Springfield Park, Bolton Road Rochdale, Lancs OL11 4RE Location: O.S.Map: 109 Grid Ref: 872120 The Activity Centre is situated at the back of Springfield Park, in a complex of stone buildings and cottages, and the campsite is on a private field. Springfield Park is on the A58 Bolton Road, Rochdale and is easily reached from Junction 20 of the M62, A627(M) and A664 Rochdale to Manchester Road. Girlguiding Rochdale East and West Divisions
Indoor Accommodation Superbly equipped indoor accommodation, suitable for Brownies and Guide holidays, Rainbow sleepovers and Senior Section weekends. Leader training days, evening training and meetings at a special rate. The building is covered with a fire alarm, automatic smoke detectors, extinguishers and fire blankets. All appliances are regularly serviced. Leaders are advised to check both the locations and method of operating fire extinguishers on arrival, and to hold a fire drill within the first 24 hours. Springfield Activity Centre is a NO SMOKING building. Ground Floor: Dinning area and fully equipped kitchen. Please bring own dish cloths and tea towels. Centre shop (open by prior arrangement) Selling Girlguiding items, uniform, badges, and small pocket money gifts. Telephone, for emergencies only. Upper Floor: Leaders bedroom with 4 single beds. 3 bedroom, each containing bunk beds for 8 girls. The beds are fitted with a waterproof mattress cover. Each person must bring a sheet, pillow case, sleeping bag or duvet. A large activity room with DVD player & screen and extra batteries. Bathroom containing wash basin, showers and flush toilets.
Outside: All the facilities of the park Play area Parking for two cars outside the Centre Lighting, cooking and heating are included in the fees. Please ensure that the downstairs doors are locked if activities are taking place upstairs. On the day of departure, please Defrost the fridge and freezer and leave both doors open Leave the house in a clean condition Do NOT turn off the fixed heaters Rubbish should be double bagged and put inside the bin in the cupboard Coaches: Load and unload coaches, mini-buses etc on the Car Park near the Centre. Coaches should leave the park the same way as they came in, as the back road round the park is very narrow.
CAMPSITE Fully equipped spacious site where Units can camp either as one large group, or in pa(maximum of 6). Extra equipment may be needed if camping in patrols. Toilets: Water: Wood: Fires: Refuse: Parking: Flush toilets, wash basin, electricity On Site Supplied, but it is advisable to bring kindling with you. 1 large fire and 6 patrol fires, with bricks and crates etc. Please burn as much as possible. All other rubbish to be tied tightly in black bin bags and put in the bins on the site. Leaders have their own parking on the field. Also on the site, there is solid shelter (with electricity). Two 2-ring gas burners are available to hire. On the day of departure, please return all equipment thoroughly cleaned and in good repair, to the camp store to be checked by the Guider on duty, in plenty of time before departure. All breakages to be reported. Units are asked to respect the holiday centre if being used, and the privacy and rights of the house owners nearby.
