Snowmobiles YAMAHA VENTURE 500 SKI-DOO POLARIS Total of 100 snowmobiles Mountaineers provide their guests with winter overalls, safety helmets, gloves, protective shoes and balaclavas. Mountaineers facilities on Langjökull glacier Mountaineers operations cover both the East side and West side of Langjökull glacier. The company maintains top notch facilities and is equipped and ready to host groups of all sizes. Mountaineers are constantly evolving and not only does it possess a wide selection of vehicles, but they also maintain their own workshop. From their headquarters in Reykjavik, Mountaineers embark on their popular day tours as well as many other destinations. A little bit about Langjökull glacier Langjökull is the second largest glacier in Iceland; it is situated in the western highlands of the country. It spans 195 square kilometers and at its densest, the ice can be up to 580m thick. Volcanically, the glacier is very stable and has only experienced 32 eruptions in the last 10,000 years. The southwestern part rises up to 1400m, making it the perfect location for viewing both the surrounding scenery and the magnificent aurora borealis. It is also very accessible and on the way to Langjökull you pass by the most popular attractions in Iceland

Langjökull lodging huts Skálpanes, East side Skálpanes is a large, timber lodge located on the east side of Langjökull glacier. Recently, we have constructed a glasshouse right next to it in order to be able to host events such as meetings, symposiums, buffets, weddings or simply just to get a better view of the surrounding landscape. The lodge is heated, equipped with a kitchen, a restroom and enough space to hold 100 people. Groups often take advantage of our facility for indoor buffets or when the weather suddenly changes during one of our popular outdoor glacial buffets and we need to move everybody inside. It s a nice, warm place to rest while on the glacier. BaseCamp Skálpanes east side Recently Mountaineers constructed a basecamp right next to Skálpanes where people change into winter overalls before heading on to the glacier. During the summer that is where the snowmobile tours begin. There is also the possibility of using the basecamp for specialized tours and events. Newly constructed, heated changing area at Skálpanes with electricity, running water and restrooms.

BaseCamp Geldingafell east side A warm, cozy little house equipped with electricity, running water, restrooms and a luxurious facility for our snowmobiles right next to it. Mountaineers have now set the standard for glacial facilities in Iceland. Jaki, Langjökull - west side Located at Jaki, on the west side of Langjökull glacier is our West side lodging area. Jaki is very popular for monster truck tours, film projects and snowmobile tours are also available for smaller groups. The area is open from June to October. The lodge is heated using kerosene; it has a kitchen, a restroom and enough space to hold 60 people.

DayTours with departures from Reykjavík Mountaineers operate open day tours, half-day tours and evening tours as well as private tailor made tours for smaller and larger groups, for one, two or more days. We also welcome incentive groups for which we can offer interesting activities, such as snowmobile rides, team building programs, snowgames, cave exploring, river rafting, horse-back riding and ATV s. Whatever your idea is Mountaineers are sure to welcome it and make it happen. We are constantly creating new activities for clients with personal service and attention from beginning to end. Each snowmobile has two riders at a time; however you can choose to ride solo for a higher fee. A valid driving license is required to operate a snowmobile. Mountaineers operates snowmobiles on Langjökull glacier all year around and if it snows heavily during the winter season then snowmobiles are operated from the vicinity of Reykjavík. Custom made snowmobile tours are also available.

Monster Truck tours Our Monster Truck has a very interesting story. It s an old German army truck that was used to move missiles and it is equipped with a portable launch pad. It has been specifically modified for the glacier environment. Passengers can relax and enjoy the view on the glacier in one of our many special tours, such as the Northern Lights tour. On the glacier, the truck stops at a specific location and passengers will be able to step off and enjoy the glacial environment. NEW: This winter we will launch a new Northern Lights evening tour in our Monster Truck. It is a guided Northern Lights tour where we will go hunting for the majestic Aurora Borealis with a stop at our glacial lodge for a light snack. We re excited to announce two new additions to the team: Our luxury 8x8 Monster Bus and our luxury 10x10 Monster Bus. Unique and powerful glacier trucks We ve listened to feedback from customers and with the expertise of our mechanical team, we ve specially crafted new glacier tour trucks which are fitted to the highest standards. The result is two of the most unique and powerful glacier trucks available. So, what do they look like? Well, first up is the 8x8. The front of the vehicle is from a MAN-motor truck, the top frame is from a bus and the body and base is a former missile launcher. Which means a totally robust vehicle suitable for all roads, weather and terrain.

More luxury We ve also added some extra little features. Well, who doesn t want to travel in the lap of luxury on a glacier? The interior is colorful and cozy with bright curtains, there s air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, seat belts, reclining seats, a little fold down table in front of each seat. Our new luxury Monster Buses can be hired from different collection points. We can meet you fresh from your flight at the airport, at Langjökull glacier or at the nature reserve in Þórsmörk. Whether your tour is short or long you can look forward to enjoying an adventure in luxury and comfort. Main features: A Monster Bus that delivers luxury and safety Suitable for all roads, weather and terrains Perfect for luxury or incentive groups Used on Langjökull glacier for Monster Truck tours Located on Langjökull glacier Other locations available As for the 10x10, the front of the vehicle is from the MAN-motor truck, the top frame is from a bus and the motor and body frame is from a GINAF which in layman s terms means it s a big, butch truck. Before it retired to have fun on Icelandic glaciers the GINAF used to ferry bricks around in Holland, so that gives you some idea of the strength of this powerful beast.

Buffet One of the coolest experiences Mountaineers offer is the buffet. Whenever weather permits they grab some shovels and make an outdoor buffet table out of snow. There is also the possibility of planning an indoor buffet in one of their lodges at Langjökull glacier it is also a perfect and easy plan B (depending on season). Mountaineers of Iceland cater to any pallet, be it gourmet, international or just plain delicious food. We offer a wide selection of drinks, soups, hot chocolate and rum. Mountaineers is also able to whip up any theme-based dishes you might have in mind. Games Mountaineers of Iceland offer Team building programs that are aimed at creating an improved atmosphere within the group. The program is designed in such a way that it will require every participant to be active in solving various problems during the event itself. Completion of each task will require each and every individual to make a real effort. Different types of activities and team building games may be added in our incentive programs. Programs can range anywhere from a single day tour or several days, spent sleeping in the Icelandic countryside. We are more than able to make the ultimate incentive program for you no matter the group size, season, budget or any other requirements you might have.

Snow games Snow Golf Who says you need smooth grass and a finely trimmed green to play golf? We play golf up on the glacier. We set up small golf courses for each team and have them compete against each other. Football The group will be divided into two teams. Two people will be tied together by their ankles and will have to work together in order to win both the ball and the game. Sledding race Each team has in their possession a giant tube or plastic sledge which they will use to slide down the hill in an epic downhill-race. Members from each group will have to carry the giant tube or plastic sledge up the top of the hill. Once at the top, the group lines up and when the leader from each group has given the signal, the race kicks off and the groups slide down the hill. GPS Navigation Each team gets a GPS navigation device and will be given the task of location a certain object in the snow, such as a case of beer. Solidarity walk Members of each group are tied together by their ankles (the right foot on person A is tied to the left foot on person B) so that the group will form a chain. The group then has to follow a track and solve various tasks before reaching the finish line. The group with the best time wins. Rules: Every group has to finish the same task and the group must stay on the track at all times.

Tug-o-war Two teams line up with a rope stretched between them the team that first manages to pull the other team towards them is the winning team! The objective is to pull the opposing team a distance of four meters. Teams can be disqualified for persistently infringing the rules. Large groups are divided into smaller teams for a knockout contest. Flags for winning line are put up and loudhailer is used to encourage and control teams. Treasure Hunting Each group is given an avalanche beeper, after a short introduction on how to use the beeper; the teams will go into search of the hidden treasure. The hidden treasure will transmit signals to each receiver. The teams will need to work together, listening closely to the beeper. The team that completes the mission in the shortest amount of time wins.

The starting and finish line is marked in the sand and a competition will take place between the passengers of each jeep. Whoever can pull the jeep a certain distance in the shortest amount of time wins. The next test will be to see how many people dare to go barefooted into the ice-cold Atlantic Ocean. On the beach you will get a chance to go native and eat fermented Icelandic shark meat and why not wash it all down with a shot of Icelandic snaps?

Northern Lights We at Mountaineers of Iceland are highly experienced in planning tours to see the northern lights. Our company operates regular day tours like the Northern Lights Hunt out of Reykjavik and northern lights jeep- and snowmobile tours on Langjökull glacier. Our facilities on the glacier are ideal for these types of tours. If we are lucky, we will be able to see the spectacular Northern Lights. Thanks to the serene and isolated environment on Langjökull glacier, you will not only see the magnificent Aurora Borealis but also get the feeling that you are one with sky. With no city lights to ruin your view you will feel like you can almost touch the lights beaming all over the night sky.

Other mighty machinery Mountaineers owns and operates different types of equipment and mighty machinery
