Explained the motive by stating Teddy Hecker discovered Edgar Chadwick's manipulation of Neptune Flotation Value stock. Chadwick killed Ted Hecker to insure that Hecker could not expose him. 3. Produced Carmen Flores as the witness who saw the two men together at Chadwick's house on the night Hecker died. 4. Stated that the victim was missing a temporary crown on one of his molars, and that you found a crown on the floor of Chadwick's study. SOLU~ION Case 2: The Death of Reverend Slade 1. Named Karl Lupis as the murderer. 2. Explained the motive by stating that Lupis caught Reverend Slade in his storeroom and was afraid that he would blow the whistle on his fencing operation. 3. Produced either the lab report stating that Karl Lupis' fingerprints were found all over the gun used to kill Reverend Slade, or the lab report which states that the Reverend was killed in the storeroom, to which Lupis had the only key and the only access. SOLUTION Case 3: Lincoln's Acorn 1. Named Dirk MacLeod as the thief. 2. Explained Dirk MacLeod's motive by stating that he was trying to raise a quarter of a million dollars for his ''Mexican Adventure.'' 3. Located either Lincoln's Acorn or the ransom money. 4. Stated any two of the following: a) That both the thief and Dirk MacLeod were righthanded. b) That both the thief and Dirk had A negative blood. c) The thief knew how to bypass the security system. Dirk had learned how to bypass the security system when Angus toured the system with Chuck Landsly and his family. SOLU~ION Case 4: ~he Big ~akeover 1. Named Nicholas Schot as the assailant. 2. Explained that Nick tried to kill Janet Gale because he was a drug dealer and he wanted to ensure that she would not interfere with his attempted takeover of the territory held by Lucas and Del Ray. 3. Stated that: a) The assailant was eating red pistachio nuts while waiting for Janet Gale to meet him and that Nicky's fingertips were dyed red. b) Janet Gale was shot with a.38-caliber and Nicky owned a Colt Agent which he kept loaded with.38-caliber ammunition. SOLU!rlON Cases: The Case of the Amateur Torch 1. Named Horace Quenton as the arsonist/murderer. 2. Explained that Horace killed Martin Storch because Storch was about to prove that Horace was the person who had stolen $40,000 from the First Security 8e Savings Bank. 3. Stated that: a) The arsonist used several gallons of gasoline to set the fire in the basement and Joel Bothwistle's five-gallon Jerry Can which he had just filled with gasoline was empty when Horace returned Joel's Jeep. b) The arsonist had to know that Dudley Keats was not going to be home, and Horace knew that because he had lent Dudley his cabin for a few days. c) The arsonist had to have access to Dudley's studio so that he could meet Martin Storch there and kill him. Horace had a key to Dudley's studio.
