Please note Lark Hill Place our Victorian Street will be closed throughout January for refurbishment work.
GARDEN SPONSORSHIP SCHEME Ordsall Hall gardens have launched an exciting NEW sponsorship scheme. Support the gardens and give a unique Christmas gift to yourself, friends and family or in memory of a loved one. Your support will help us develop the gardens and its wildlife over the coming years, through wildflower beds; wildlife-friendly hedging, bird and bat nesting sites; new floral and historical planting schemes and beds with winter colour and interest. Every Wednesday / 9.45-10.45am Listen to wonderful stories together, have fun singing songs and rhymes, make simple crafts to take home and play with our toys and percussion instruments. Plus meet other parents and carers, explore the building and gardens and stay for a coffee and a chat in the cafe afterwards. 1 Knit and Natter Every Monday / 10am - 12pm Join us at our friendly knit and natter sessions. Beginners welcome or bring your own project. Free Sunday Tours of Ordsall Hall 10 & 17 December / 2-3pm Discover the fascinating history of Ordsall Hall and join one of our volunteers for an informal walking tour of the house. 3
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS Textiles Workshop: Box of Delights Wednesday 29 November / 10am - 4pm Join textile artists, Norma Hopkins and Teresa Jones from the Textiles 21 group on this day long workshop. Work with dissolvable fabric and use free machine embroidery to build up a rich surface of stitch, create open work effects and a lacy edge and make a delightful little box in four steps. 45 (plus booking fee) Suitable for ages 14 and over. 29 NOV Christmas Carols with Salford Music and Performing Arts Service (MAPAS) 3 December 2-4pm Come and enjoy some festive favourites performed in the Great Hall by the Brass Quartet. Textiles Workshop: Colour onto Cloth Wednesday 24 January 2018 10am - 4pm Improve your technique with textile artists, Norma Hopkins and Teresa Jones from the Textiles 21 group on this day long workshop. Learn how to prepare fabrics for embroidery or other textile projects and apply colour onto cloth with block printing, rubbing, stencilling and foiling. For ages 14 and over. 45 (plus booking fee)
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS Sketching Event: Warholia 30 November / 7-9pm Join us for our next drawing workshop, looking at Andy Warhol and his approach to the 'portrait'. Using mixed media, we explore more well-known images and mass production media portraiture. A fun and experimental evening, bring along a favourite magazine for creative collage or use our materials. Free, no booking required Meet the Artist: David Coulter 10 December / 12:30-3:30pm Local artist David Coulter will be working on one of his iconic paintings in the gallery. His paintings set the scene of Salford in the 1950s in 'Four Miles from Manchester: Tony Warren's Coronation Street'.
