A variety of instruments are available for use in obtaining tissue specimens under direct vision. The short mediastinoscope is suitable for inspection of the mediastinum above the bifurcation. The long and extra long models are for the region of the carina. 522300P Short, tube working length 3 3/4" (9.5 cm), replacement light carrier 526350 522301 Long, tube working length 5 3/4" (14.5 cm), replacement light carrier 526351 522302 Extra long, tube working length 6 7/8" (17.5 cm), replacement light carrier 526352 281

TUCKER MEDIASTINOSCOPES The Tucker mediastinoscopes have a number of design features, which make them quite different from the Carlens and other models. Tube is oval in width and slotted on both sides of the proximal portion for greater working area and ease of instrumentation. Distal tip beveled for ease of introduction and better anterolateral visualization. Handle is of familiar laryngoscope design and has an elective extension piece for use with the laryngoscope holder. This enables the operator to use both hands for traction and fixations with dissection. The proximal under surface extends posteriorly to prevent surrounding tissue from encroaching into the lumen. Twin-lights provide greater light intensity and minimize shadows. 522305P Short, tube working length 4 1/4" (11 cm), fiber optic light carrier Replacement light carriers: left 526360, right 526361 522310P Long, tube working length 5 3/4" (14.5 cm), fiber optic light carrier Replacement light carriers: left 526362, right 526363 IMPROVED TUCKER MEDIASTINOSCOPE Supplied with extra large diameter fiberoptic light carrier and integral 6-ft. long autoclavable connecting cable. It has the highest light output of any of our mediastinoscopes and is suited for use in conjunction with and operating microscope. 522306 Short, tube working length 4 1/4" (11 cm) Replacement fiberoptic carrier cable 527853 522311 Long, tube working length 5 3/4" (14.5 cm) Replacement fiberoptic carrier cable 527850 LARYNGOSCOPE (AND MEDIASTINOSCOPE) HOLDER, IMPROVED MODEL 502245 An external chest bar and rod easily attach to or detach from the handle of a standard Tucker Mediastinoscope. Manually operated gear supplies leverage and allows the operator to have both hands free for instrumentation.
