Sharpe s is a Grade II listed working Pottery dating from the 1820 s, which originally made cheap household pots known as yellow ware and mocha ware. The factory later switched to making water closets and wash basins until its eventual closure in 1967, after a working life of 146 years. Sharpe s Pottery Heritage and Arts Trust is now a registered charity and currently manage the site including the museum and one of the pottery s C19th Bottle Kiln. We run a varied Events programme throughout the year including our popular Saturday and Wednesday Talks, s, Family Activities, Artists s, Tours and much more! There s something for everyone! My children love the workshops here, the staff and volunteers are fantastic and there s always a great friendly atmosphere. It s definitely one of our favourite places to go come rain or shine! Poppies at the Pottery An exhibition by Pop-Up Poppies Derbyshire of knitted poppies marking the end of WW1 Centenary commemorations, remembering all those from Swadlincote and the surrounding villages killed during WW1. Bookfold Haunted Houses Get into the Halloween spirit with Sarah from Ollie Bobs and have a go at book-folding a haunted house. Includes materials. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 5 per person. Booking advisable! Rag Rug Try your hand at the traditional art of rag rug making with Sarah from Ollie Bobs. It s the perfect excuse to catch up over cake and coffee, whilst you relax and craft. Includes tuition, materials and light refreshments. Antique Valuation Day Bring your antiques and family heirlooms along to the museum and get them valued by Bamford s Auctioneers. A charge of 1 per item or set will apply. The Art of World War I Join Historian, Danny Wells for this talk on Art and World War I. In the Great War empires vanished, thrones toppled and societies crumbled. To this day, WW1 still has a profound emotional impact. This illustrated talk will look at what British

Angela Ashton Glass s Join Artist Angela Ashton and make your own piece of festive glass to take home. Includes refreshments and materials to make one item. Additional items cost 5 each. Museum Guided Tour Join one of our knowledgeable and friendly guides for unique tour around our Grade II listed kiln and pottery museum. Our Annual Christmas Fayre! Visit the museum where we will have a Fayre on throughout the day, school choirs singing and the volunteers raffle and games. Santa will be in his grotto in the Playzone between 4pm and 7pm. As it gets dark enjoy mulled wine and hot food in our courtyard then watch the fantastic fireworks display! Not to be missed! Free entry DECEMBER Swadlincote Snowflake Hunt! 1 st to 17 th December Sharpe s will be joining in the Snowflake Hunt organised by Swadlincote Town Team and Swadlincote & District Chamber of Trade. Find the hidden snowflake in the museum and join the hunt to find all the other snowflakes around the town! Great fun for all ages! Saturday 1 st to Saturday 22 nd December (last orders 3.30pm) Artist of original artwork (painted and machine embroidered) and limited edition prints by Rose of Stitching. Several pieces will be available to purchase from the museum reception desk. Free entry.

Festive Singing Get into the festive spirit and enjoy a morning of Christmas music in the kiln performed by the pupils of Pingle School Free. Festive Family Decoupage Decorations Join Sarah from Ollie Bobs and make some festive family decorations in time for Christmas. Tuition and materials included. Suitable for all ages. A Toilet Story This interactive exhibition illustrates South Derbyshire s importance in the international development of public health during the 19th and 20 th Centuries. The production of South Derbyshire sanitary wares; which we sold worldwide and which are still in-situ today, are also explored in the exhibition.
