OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION Greene County 4-H Residential Camper Guidebook Welcome to 4-H Camp Clifton!! To make sure you and your parents/guardians have all the information needed for you to have a fun time at camp, we have prepared this Camper Guidebook for you. Make sure to read it carefully, we hope this guide will help prepare you for camp. As always if you have questions about camp, please call Brenda, Camp Program Manager at 937-372-9971 ext. 116 or email at sandman-stover.1@osu.edu. There will be no refunds for camper fees after May 28, 2015. No exceptions. COUNSELOR INFORMATION Camp counselors will be assigned to cabins after camp registration is completed. Therefore, requesting specific camp counselors is not possible. All counselors have been screened, attended, 24+ hours of training, and are well-qualified. They are looking forward to making camp a fun and safe experience for all the campers. WHERE IS 4-H CAMP CLIFTON? 4-H Camp Clifton is located on Clifton Road next to John Bryant State Park, six miles north of Xenia, in Greene County. Campers live in one of 22 rustic cabins with 8-10 campers and a trained counselor. A modern kitchen and central dining hall provide nutritious meals. A large open-air lodge and Olympic-size swimming pool provide recreational activities. Other facilities include the Nature Center, Canteen, Campfire Circle, Vespers Hill, High Ropes Course, and Sports Fields. CHECK-IN AND DISMISSAL TIMES Check-in: Monday, June 29, 3:00 p.m. Dinning Hall Must be checked in by 4:00 p.m. to take the swim test Arrival Procedures: Park in the ball field area. Please do not drive into cabin areas. Come to the Camp Dinning Hall to receive your cabin assignment. Turn in your medication release form with medicines in the original containers at the Nurses Cabin. Every medicine should have the pharmacy label attached with the camper s name, dosage, etc. and have a doctor s signature on the CAMP MEDICATION FORM. Take your gear to your cabin. Sign your camper in at the cabin. Make your bunk and meet your counselors and cabin buddies. Dismissal: Friday, July 3, 10:00 a.m. - Cabin Dismissal Procedures: Park in the ball field. Walk to your camper s cabin. Campers will not be able to sign out until their cabin is spotless CLEAN! Sign your camper out at the cabin with child s counselor. STOP! at the Nurses Cabin for any medicine your child might have brought with them. HEALTH AND SAFETY Assuring the health and safety of each camper is important to us at camp. Campers are covered by a safety policy while involved in camp programs. Activities are supervised by

responsible adults and counselors who are trained in camping programs. Rules and regulations have been developed and will be enforced for camper health and safety purposes of all individuals. CAMP PARTICIPATION We require all campers to be full-time camp participants. Once a camper arrives at camp, he/she may not leave camp except for a family or medical emergency. Contact us at 937-372-9971 ext. 116 to arrange for a pre-approved early release. Parents/Guardians Notes Parents are the key to their child having a good and enjoyable time at camp. If the parents will reinforce the concept with the child prior to camp that they will have a good, enjoyable, and profitable camp experience. The camp staff strongly discourages youngsters calling home for home sickness. (In the case of illness or injury, rest assured we will call home very quickly.) The camp staff asks that parents NOT allow campers to bring cell phones or electronic devises to camp. Please keep all cell phones and other electronic devises at home. You must pick up your child at their cabin. Whoever is picking up your child must sign a form from the cabin counselor. Please inform Brenda if there is someone that is NOT allowed to pick-up your child. Cancellation If for any reason a member who is registered for camp is not able to go, you must contact the Extension office immediately so we will not expect them to arrive at camp. No visitors Please do not come to visit anyone at camp or arrive before 10:00 a.m. on check-out day. Refunds No refund for fees will be made after May 28. No refund or partial refund can be made to campers who arrive late or who leave for any reason during camp. No refunds will be made to campers who do not notify us of cancellations before May 28, 2015. Lost and Found When you pick your child up from camp be sure to check the lost and found table outside the Camp Staff Cabin. Any unclaimed items will be donated to Good Will or the trash. Medicine Pick up your child s medicine at the Nurse s Cabin before leaving. Left medicine will be discarded. Camp and Extension is not responsible for any left medicine.
