The Monthly Planet Central Ohio Saturn CarClub Chapter 4 Issue #121 April 2007 The Sky s The Limit I have some big news to announce this month! We re starting a Referral Rewards program in the CarClub! Each time you refer someone (friend, co-worker, family member) who pays their dues to the Club, you will be entered in a quarterly drawing for $5 off your next year s dues. Then, at the end of the year, we will draw two names who will win a free membership! You can win both the quarterly drawing and the year-end drawing. Plus, if you refer someone in April, and again in July, you will be entered once in the June drawing and once in the September drawing. The $5 discount is cumulative, so if you win 2 quarters, you will get $10 off. If you win both a quarterly and the year end drawing, you will receive the discount on your next year s membership, and your free membership the following year. Plus, you can continue to refer people! There s no limit you can even get an entry if you refer someone whose membership has lapsed for more than six months! There will be a new blank on our sign up sheets for Referred By. Note that only one person can be listed as the referral source. If there is more than one member listed, the one whose name is first will be entered in the drawing. So, talk us up and good luck! I want to thank everyone who put money in the hat to give to Cat Welfare, our first quarter charity. We were able to make a contribution of over $200, one of our largest donations ever. I m impressed by your generosity! I hope those of you who were present at the March meeting enjoyed the presentation by Roseann, the President of Cat Welfare, and will check them out if you have the chance. Our March trip started out very gray and rainy, but by the time we d finished lunch at the Malabar Farm Restaurant, the sun had come out from behind the clouds, and it wound up being a lovely afternoon! We enjoyed the horse-drawn wagon ride up to the maple sugar area, and walked through the various displays. I want to thank everyone who braved the morning rain to join us, and hope you had as much fun as I did! Our first Adopt-A-Highway is coming up on April 14th. Remember, you get 2 points toward active membership status if you attend this cleanup. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes or boots, a long sleeve shirt and long pants. Meet us at the Max & Erma s on East Broad Street at 9:30 a.m. This community service activity will take about 1 ½ - 2 hours; when we re done, Saturn of Columbus will buy us lunch at Max & Erma s. Our April event is a trip to Marion to tour President Harding s home and the Wyandot popcorn museum. I love popcorn, so I know I ll be first in line if there are samples! I ve never been to either place, so I m looking forward to visiting both of them. And don t forget our monthly bingo games at Villa Angela Care Center. They re always on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00. We hope to have our charity for the second quarter finalized shortly. We ll be announcing it at the April meeting, but remember to let us know if you have any suggestions, please! We are giving you a choice for the May event (one possibility is a family picnic), so check out the calendar page for the options and cast your vote. We will finalize the details when all the tallies are verified by an independent auditing agency naah, that would take too long. Just check the next newsletter for the results. I want to remind everyone that we re always looking for suggestions and ideas. Talk to one of the officers, send us an e-mail, call the hotline, or send a message to us through the Yahoo group. Remember, you re not just in the Club, you ARE the Club. Cheryl 1

March Photos RoseAnn Ballangee, President of the Cat Welfare Association, showed CarClub members a calendar offered as a fund raiser. You have until May 31 to submit a photo of your cat for next year s calendar. CarClub President Cheryl Lutman presented a zoo animal adoption certificate to Will Walker of Saturn Southeast. Each retail facility in Columbus displays an adoption certificate. Becky and Jim Harrass took in some stats on cats. Al Clapsaddle, CarClub Champion, talked about new developments at Saturn and the upcoming summer road trip to Detroit. April Events Saturday April 14 Adopt a Highway and Lunch at Max & Erma s Join us for the Adopt a Highway 1st clean up of the year and earn 2 membership points! On Saturday April 14 at 9:30 a.m. meet at the Max & Erma s on East Broad Street. We will clean up our section of East Broad Street and then meet back at Max & Erma s for lunch. Please wear sturdy shoes or boots, long pants, long sleeves and a hat. You will be provided with a security vest, plastic garbage bags, gloves, and grippers to help pick up the litter. Some people like to carry plastic buckets to collect garbage in if you find that easier, please bring one for your use. If you can help us, please make sure you sign up. That way we can contact you with any changes necessitated by the weather. Thursday April 26 Bingo at Villa Angela at 7:00 p.m. Join Car Club members at Villa Angela Care Center (5700 Karl Rd.) to play Bingo with the residents. What a great way to make this a special time for the residents by having Car Club members come and visit with them. Saturday April 28 Take a Trip to Marion, OH We will be visiting the Harding Home in the morning, having lunch together in Marion and then visiting the Popcorn Museum in the afternoon. Join us for this fun filled day in Marion, Ohio. We will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the Meijer s parking lot, located on Rt. 23 (just beyond Highbanks Metro Park) at 8870 Columbus Pike (US23), Lewis Center, OH 43035. Wyandot Popcorn Museum. Not only is it the only popcorn museum in the world, but it also houses the largest collection of restored popcorn antiques. The sights and sounds of chugging, popping and whistling help to take visitors back in time; and the aroma of popcorn and peanuts prepared fresh in the operational machines is mouth-watering! Free popcorn is served daily, and the fun of receiving a full serving from an old air popped popcorn vending machine is rarely missed. Admission rates Adults, $3.00 donation; Seniors, $2.00 donation; Children 6 years to 12 years: $1.00 donation The Wyandot Popcorn Museum is located inside the Heritage Hall, home of the Marion County Historical Society. The museum is located at 169 E. Church Street and it is open from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday. 1. Start out going NORTHWEST on MT VERNON AVE / OH-95 toward ARLEIGH CT. Warren G. Harding Home. The restored house was built in 1891 and contains almost all original furnishings owned by President Harding and his wife Florence. The library was renovated in 2005. Adjacent to the Harding Home is a press house used during the 1920 campaign which now serves as a museum dedicated to President and Mrs. Harding's lives. The Harding Home is at 380 Mt. Vernon Avenue in Marion (see map). This is State Route 95 and is about 2 miles west of U.S. Route 23 in Marion County. Admission Rates: OHS Members FREE; Adults $6.00; Children 6 12, $3.00 per student, all ages; Children 5 & under, FREE 3

New member is defined as someone who has never been a member of the club before or a former member who has lapsed for more than six months. 3 Turn RIGHT onto E PLEASANT ST.
