1 Director S MeSSage Roberta Vasilow Volume 44 Number 4 April 2015 Happy Spring!!! Even if it doesn t feel like it? Hopefully it won t be too much longer. We can get our Buicks moving. Your Board of Directors has met and selected a member to fill the vacant seat, Gil Mervis, please welcome and congratulate him. Gil has been spending a lot of time at the Sloan Museum as a volunteer as well as being one of our reps on the Auto Fair Committee. Looks like Millie and Larry have got the summer plans locked in so mark your calendars now so you don t miss or forget one! Looking for some help planning the Michigan Buick Bash on September 12 it s our turn again. This is a tradition for the BCA Michigan Chapters for many years, so every 4 years we get to host it. Basically, Buick show, with coffee and donuts provided by us, lunch on your own but will make available and kick tires, and some type of program to entertain or enlighten folks. Thoughts now consist of coffee and donuts at the Buick Gallery then lunch at the Durant-Dort Building. We have to be careful because it s the same day as Bikes on the Bricks in downtown Flint. (motorcycles) Let me know if you want to help out. The BCA Great Lakes Regional is at the same time and place as the Arthritis Foundation Show in Dublin, Ohio this year. Some of you might remember going there several years ago, it s a huge show, but the Buicks are all together, with a show within the show. There s a flyer and link in this newsletter. Phil Dirt and the Dozers provide a concert on Saturday night! Back to the Bricks plans are coming along well, and many of you are planning on joining the tour, call the Westside Tour. Flint to Battle Creek to Whitehall to Manistee to Boyne City to West Branch, with a finale in East Tawas! Sign up soon online at backtothebricks.org. There s already close to 80 signed up. Maybe we can have more Buicks than Chevies this year! LOL! Stay safe and warm in your Buick, see you April 22 in Davison, hopefully in a Buick. Roberta

4 Buicktown Tour of Cole Automotive March 21, 2015 Davison, MI

5 Assistant Directors Millie and Larry Lutz HAPPY SPRING!! But don't look out your window, as I write this it is SNOWING. Thanks to everyone for the great turnout at our March get together for the program on the Cole Automobile, it was very interesting and the cars were beautifully restored. We hope to see everyone for our regular meeting April 22nd 6:pm at Johns Pizzeria 9010 Davison Rd. Davison. We will be ordering off the menu. We are still working on a Spring Tour idea, the Truck Tour we were hoping to have isn't possible at this time. Ladies Night will be May 8th, we will have dinner at Buddys Pizza 2612 N.Squirrel Rd. Auburn Hills at 5:00 pm, then on to Meadowbrook Theater for the car show between 6:00 & 7:00 pm. The play, Meshuggah [ part of the Nunsense series] will start at 8:00 pm. the tickets are $20.00 each with one free ticket per car, there will be a sigh -up sheet at Johns and will need to be paid for then, you can also call me to sign-up and send a check, the deadline is April 23rd. The hosts for our picnics are as follows, June- Dan & Rosemary, July-Jane & Perry, Aug.- Gail & Ron, Kathy &John Thank You all. Plans for the Fall tour are in the works, thanks to John Root, In Sept. we will be at the Sloan,Oct.and Nov. TBD. Christmas Party will be at Brookwood Golf Club.Dec.12th 1:00-4:00 pm. I believe that's all for now. God Bless Millie and Larry Water Street Car Show Committee Update The second meeting of the car show committee was held at the Durant-Dort Carriage Company office building on March 10th. All in our club are welcome to attend (see detail in Crier calendar). The committee's goals are to be successful in your eyes and to build this into an annual event which everyone looks forward to. Some members remember our parking on Kearsley Street and will opt to park downtown in the "heart" of the action. That is ok and each should make their own choice. Having a choice is good. For Buicktown members who choose to attend and be a volunteer at Water Street, we plan on providing special incentives. For these and for other materials necessary to properly manage the scene at Buick's birthplace, club monies will be needed. This committee will make a plan for items to be purchased and submit that for budget approval by the BOD and membership. Of course, we are collaborating with GM and the Durant-Dort Foundation for the benefit of all parties. In May we will be prepared to meet with BttB representatives and compare notes. We have identified the tasks, a.k.a. jobs, required to get the show staged on August 15th. Members are now stepping forward to take on a task leaders job. Vacancies remain for both leader and team member jobs. We are planning for many job openings and you will understand "why" after discussions at regular monthly meetings. Remember, with many people shouldering the load, this can be fun and rewarding. With only a few people, the burden gets very heavy and the experience may NOT be worth repeating. Yes, you are needed and it is the committee's task to set the stage so you may have both an enjoyable time and take pride in your club. Be sure to read our web site at 316waterstreet.org.
