Wombleton makes an ideal base for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and, just a few miles away the Hutton-le-Hole area is a walkers' paradise and the home of Ryedale Folk Museum which is well worth a visit. Nearby Farndale is famous for the daffodils in the Spring.
Helmsley's attractions include the Castle, Duncombe Park and the Victorian Walled Garden as well as having an array of delightful shops and tearooms. Wombleton makes an ideal base for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and, just a few miles away the Hutton-le-Hole area is a walkers' paradise and the home of Ryedale Folk Museum which is well worth a visit. Nearby Farndale is famous for the daffodils in the Spring. Rockery is only a short drive from many local attractions such as James Herriott's Museum at Thirsk, Nunnington Hall (NT), Byland Abbey and Rievaulx Abbey. The market town of Malton is about 20 minutes drive and is excellent for shopping. The beautiful walled city of York is about 35 minutes drive and home of many famous attractions including York Minister, the Jorvik Museum, Castle Howard and the National Railway Museum, to name but a few. The stately home of Castle Howard is just 20 Minutes away with beautiful rooms, garden, court yard shops and gerden centre. On the East Coast there is Robin Hoods Bay and Runswick Bay, Scarborough, Whitby and Goathland, an area well known for the TV series Heartbeat, with the North Yorkshire Moors Railway beginning at Pickering. Pickering also has the attractions of the Castle and the Beck Isle Museum. Ryedale area has a wonderful selection of eating places to cater for all tastes and budgets.
