BEFORE THE CLEANUP REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED ALL volunteers must be registered o Volunteers without armbands will not receive equipment
TEAM BEFORE LEADER? THE CLEANUP Complete the team member name form with the names of the people who will be PRESENT AT THE EVENT o Submitted to the following email by noon on Friday, September 14 to: beachcleanupjamaica@gmail.com o OR Submitted at the information tent on the morning of beach cleanup TEAM LEADERS MUST BE PRESENT Ensure your team knows who you are and where to meet
BEFORE THE CLEANUP Check your package, it should have: One (1) YELLOW Armband PER team member One (1) RED Group Leader Armband PER 4-6 Team Members Beach Cleanup Dos and Don ts and directions to the site A copy of the volunteer data card
WHO DOES WHAT TEAM LEADER Registers their team, divides team into groups, submits in Team Member name form GROUP LEADER In charge of a group of 4-6 people at the cleanup, responsible for collecting team equipment VOLUNTEER/GROUP MEMBER Everyone else who is on your beach cleanup team divided into groups of 4 6 people
BEFORE THE CLEANUP Train your team members Print a team shirt with your team/company name Use the Nuh Dutty Up Jamaica logo on your shirt
DON T FORGET TO BRING Team Armbands Team Member Name Form (if not already submitted) A small bag to secure personal items Sunscreen and a hat Comfortable shoes or sneakers
BRING A REUSABLE BOTTLE FOR WATER
DIVIDE YOUR TEAM INTO GROUPS Divide volunteers in groups of 4 6 persons Assign group leaders for each group Group Leaders should wear a RED armband Assign tasks
ON CLEANUP DAY
STEP 1: CHECK IN AT THE INFO TENT ALL must check in at the information tent. If you have not already done so, also hand in your Team Member Name Forms.
STEP 2: PICK UP EQUIPMENT will be given 1-2 pairs of gloves per group, garbage bags, data card and backing, 1 sharpener, 1 pencil, 1 eraser
STEP 3: GET TO KNOW THE VOLUNTEER CARD A VOLUNTEER card is used to record the type and amount of trash you pick up. You will need 1 volunteer card for each group of 4-6 volunteers
HOW TO FILL OUT DATA CARD 1. RECORD SITE INFORMATION ON THE FRONT OF THE VOLUNTEER CARD Palisadoes Go Kart Track N/A JAMAICA KINGSTON 3 2 wig
2. RECORD DATA ON THE TRASH COLLECTED ON THE BACK OF THE VOLUNTEER CARD 1 5 1 1 Use strokes to record the number of each item Tally the total of each item at the end of the cleanup
3. RECORD DATA ON THE TRASH COLLECTED ON THE BACK OF THE VOLUNTEER CARD sea turtle shell N/A 5 syringes sea turtle shell Small pieces of trash (smaller than a bottle cap) should be recorded separately Please report any dead or injured animals to the JET information tent

STEP 5: START YOUR CLEANUP & DATA COLLECTION!
CLEANUP DON Ts DO NOT: X Use words like a lot, many or nuff on data cards X Drag full garbage bags on the sand X Overfill garbage bags X Lift or put heavy things in bags, for example: X X X Tyres Car parts Old appliances DON T REMOVE ANYTHING OTHER THAN TRASH FROM THE BEACH!

CLEANUP DOs DO: Wear sunscreen, a hat and comfortable shoes KEEP HYDRATED Wear gloves to collect trash Assign one person to record data & take note of everything you find Separate PLASTIC BOTTLES ONLY from other garbage you collect
CLEANUP DOs DO: STAY OUT OF THE WATER no exceptions! Avoid stepping on beach vegetation Report stranded, entangled or dead animals to the information tent Take full garbage bags to the central garbage collection point
RETURN EQUIPMENT & DATA CARDS Return all data cards and equipment to the equipment drop-off tent at the end of the day. Ensure you have completed data cards correctly
Wash your hands after cleaning up! There will be a hand washing station near the equipment drop-off tent in the courtyard.
REFRESHMENTS Low waste event Water and fruit will be provided Snacks in biodegradable packaging will be on sale Volunteer rest area
A first aid tent/rest area will be located in the courtyard. There will be trained medical personnel on site.
Toilets will also be located on site.
BEACH CLEANUP RULES X X DO NOT LITTER! Do not throw trash on the ground in the courtyard or on the beach Dispose of your garbage properly Use the recycling and garbage bins provided around the courtyard Recycle all plastic bottles
