Expect the extraordinary andbeyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge NamibRand Nature Reserve, Namibia Day 1 Upon your arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, make your own way to the arrivals hall where you will be welcomed by an andbeyond representative. Upon arrival at you will be met by an andbeyond representative and driven to. (Approx. 45 mins) You will be met at Eros Airport (Windhoek) for your scheduled Scenic Air charter flight to the Sossusvlei area. The Namib Desert is a world of vast spaces, endless horizons, dramatic desertscapes and jagged mountain heights. (Approx. 1h15 mins) Relish in your 3 night stay at andbeyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge in a suite with ensuite bathroom. Your stay includes accommodation, three meals daily, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas and coffees, refreshments on game drives, laundry, safari activities, guided nature walks and quad bike excursions in the NamibRand reserve (subject to availability), emergency medical evacuation insurance, VAT, transfers to and from the lodge airstrip and 1 excursion to Sossusvlei. Day 2 Leave for an exciting Balloon Safari. At sunrise, in the world s oldest desert, witness a spectacular hot air balloon inflation, and set out on the flight of a lifetime. From the best platform, in the most romantic way, soar with the winds for an hour, over the oceans of sand and mountains, endless vistas of shadows and lights. Your destination? The Sossusvlei dunes or the splendour of the desert. At landing, you come back to earth with an Out Of Africa style Champagne breakfast set up in the middle of nowhere. Your pilot will present you with a flight certificate before you take a leisurely nature drive back to the pick-up point. It is an experience like no other, the experience of a lifetime. Day 3 Wake up early today and set off from the lodge before the morning sun peeps over the horizon. Travel to the famous Sossusvlei, part of the Namib Sand Sea, an endlessly undulating landscape of sand dunes that heaves and tosses above the rocky desert floor, coloured a thousand different shades of orange, amber and ochre. Some of the highest dunes in the world rise on both sides as you drive deeper into the dune field. The gold rays of the rising sun set the eastern faces of the mountains of sand on fire as their western slopes remain in deep and dramatic shadow. In the cool of the morning sun, slither and slide your way to the top of Big Daddy and gasp in awe as the full extent of this majestic sea of sand is unveiled. Travel even deeper into the dune field and you will discover the hauntingly named Dead Vlei, where the dead branches of camel thorn trees, bleached a fine white by decades of sun and sand, stretch out in a strangely graceful dance. Return to the lodge with ample time to rest and relax before lunch. In the afternoon, set out on a quad bike trail through the dunes, led by an experienced guide. Enjoy the solitude and majesty of the desert as the trail winds over the dunes and rocky outcrops. As the day winds to a close, stop to enjoy a chilled sundowner as a dazzle of stars slowly comes to full, blazing life in the velvety night sky. Designed to capture the splendour and solitude of the desert, just ten stone and glass desert villas are spread out along the curve of the escarpment allowing absolute privacy.
