VOCAA Newsletter Winter 2017 Message from the Chairman: Hello Village Oaks! Happy New Year! Welcome to all of our new residents. Our community has constantly been changing the last couple of years with new, younger families, moving in and taking advantage of what has been one of the best-kept secrets of Novi, our neighborhood! With an elementary school located in the heart of our subdivision, a lake with great fishing, and a pool that provides lifeguard supervision and swim lessons, our subdivision is an ideal location for families and those who enjoy a friendly community. We have had many improvements this fall to the clubhouse, including new carpet, paint, sconces, fans, and lights. Please check out the pictures. We urge each of you to take advantage of the low-cost clubhouse rental privilege given to homeowners and residents of the subdivision. It makes a perfect place for receptions, birthdays, and other activities. As our cities and communities change, so does the safety and communication needed to keep our neighborhoods safe and secure. Look out for each other and don't be afraid to speak up and say something if you notice someone or something that seems amiss. Looking forward to our winter events and our annual meeting. Keep checking our Facebook page and website for more information and upcoming events. VOCAA Chairman Kendall Joy Thinking of joining the VOCAA Board??? Ballots will go out in March with yearly dues. Voting will be held at the annual VOCAA meeting and all homeowners are invited to place themselves on the ballot and attend the meeting. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS for the ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE!!! Sign up with the office if you can help in any way! We have events year round and need neighborhood volunteers to continue these fun events!! Like our Facebook Page and subscribe to our website, vocaa.com, to get the most up to date information and details on all VOCAA neighborhood events and news. Check out the updated clubhouse; it s beautiful and ready for rentals! Perfect for bridal showers, graduation parties, and birthday parties. Contact the office for information.

Important VOCAA Neighborhood Information and City of Novi Ordinances Neighborhood Garbage and Recycling Receptacles Over the past months, we have, throughout the City of Novi, transitioned from multiple garbage/recycling haulers to a single service provider. The changeover appears to have occurred with few hitches. Old collections cans have been picked up and new ones received. Within our subdivision garbage and recycling containers are no longer standing at the end of driveways on different days of the week, improving the appearance of our neighborhood. It has been noticed, though, that many homeowners are leaving their garbage and recycling receptacles in front of their garages or at the end of their driveway for the week. Per the City of Novi Ordinances, receptacles need to be inside your garage or out of view on the side or back of your house. Pet Owners Per City of Novi Ordinances, all dogs must be walked on a leash and all animal waste must be picked up. Lets keep the neighborhood looking and smelling great by cleaning up after our animals. Snow Removal Reminder, that per the City of Novi Ordinances, snow should not be shoveled or plowed into the road. Please aim your snow blower or shovel back towards your yard to avoid this. Novi residents can also pick up snow sticks (to keep the plows off your yard) from the city. VOCAA Yard of the Month Winners June- 22720 Heatherwoode July- 22935 Brookforest August- 40486 Guilford September- 23515 Nilan The flowers and yards were beautiful, thank you for making our neighborhood look great. Check out all the pictures on the VOCAA website and Facebook page. The Fall Chili Cook-Off and Tailgate was a great success! Thanks to all that came out and enjoyed the evening and chili. Congrats to Donavon Hoover, chili cook-off winner! And a BIG Thanks to BUSCH S Fresh Food Market for donating pie pumpkins for the kids to decorate! VOCAA Committee Updates

Facilities Committee Since our last newsletter we have totally transformed the clubhouse with the renovation of the main hall, foyer, and lower hallway. This included: - Building up the fireplace wall including a cabinet to house a beautiful new 80 TV and sound bar - New carpet - New off-white paint - New fans with lights - New sconces - LED light bulbs in the chandeliers - New blinds The clubhouse is lighter and brighter, and a beautiful venue to hold your special event. Call the VOCAA Office for rental details and availability. We have also bought new couches and tables for the Lounge (aka the Pool Table Room), and a flat screen TV. The couches are very comfortable, come on over and relax! Pool Committee

It's hard to think about the pool right now, but Memorial Day is about five months away. Last summer went great, and with the help of our amazing lifeguards and pool staff, we were able to overcome whatever Mother Nature threw at us. We are accepting applications for lifeguards for the 2017 pool season. Guards must have a current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and be at least 15 years old. You have a few months, so get your certification now. Go to our website for more information or to apply. Looking forward to another great season at the Village Oaks Pool! Activities Committee Summer and Fall 2016 was a huge success, and thank you to all who volunteered their time. However, we can only continue these special events and actives with neighborhood volunteers like you. Please contact the office if you can help for all events or just one. Hope to see you at our Winter 2017 events! Public Relations The VOCAA website and Facebook are up to date with the most recent news and details for upcoming events. Those residents signed up on the VOCAA website also receive emails with neighborhood information and event details. If you haven t registered for the website or liked us on Facebook, please do so!
