Welcome. Congratulations on accepting your place at Bournemouth University International College. This guide will help you through the next steps.

GEMS GIRLS CLUBS 2018 Conference CONFIRMATION INFORMATION We re excited you re making plans to attend the 2018 GEMS Conference! Please read through the following information prior to attending. TRAVEL/AIRPORT SHUTTLE The Local Conference Committee will provide transportation to and from the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport in Hamilton, ON and from Toronto Pearson International Airport in Toronto, ON. Shuttles will be offered on Thursday, July 12; Friday, July 13; and Sunday, July 15 for those who complete the travel confirmation. The cost will be $10 CAD from Hamilton and $15 CAD from Toronto one way, per person. Sunday departures will not leave campus until 12:00pm. Please plan your return flight accordingly. Be sure to allow travel time between Redeemer University College and the airport for check-in and security prior to departure. You can estimate approximately 15 minutes travel time between Redeemer and the John C. Munro Hamilton International airport rt and approximately 90 minutes travel between Redeemer and the Toronto onto o Pearson International Airport. Anyone who requests an airport rt shuttle will be contacted with specific details by June 20. In case of unexpected flight delays, please notify Elizabeth Nightingale at (416) 356-8590. TRAVEL CONFIRMATION All guests need to confirm their travel and arrival/departure plans. Please complete the Travel Confirmation online at gemsgc.org/conference by May 31, 2018 or email Elizabeth Nightingale at conference@gemsgc.org. CHECK-IN Check-in will take place in the Commons of the Redeemer Academic Building. If you are driving, you can temporarily park in the large parking lot adjacent to the Academic Building during registration. At check-in, you will receive your room assignment and keys (if you re staying on campus), workshop assignments, and other conference materials. Friday 8:00am 6:45pm Saturday 7:00am 8:30am EARLY ARRIVAL Those arriving early and staying on campus Thursday evening can go to the Campus Services Offices to collect their room key. After hours, keys can be collected from security. The building is usually open until 11:30pm. If you arrive after this time, guests are to call security at (905) 961-4444 to get their keys. PARKING ON CAMPUS Parking on campus is available free of charge. Anyone who is staying on campus can park in lots next to their Townhouses and Residence Halls or in the gravel parking lot across from their lodging. Those commuting, not staying on campus, or just coming for a single day can park in the paved parking lot adjacent to the Academic Building. bus parking spaces. If staying on campus, it is preferred you park at your lodging and walk to the sessions. ON-CAMPUS SHUTTLES The Local Conference Committee will provide limited shuttle service around campus for those with walking limitations. A shuttle schedule will be available at registration. CAMPUS TOURS Come get a feel for the Redeemer University College campus on a 15-minute tour. The tour will occur on Friday, July 13 at 5:00pm and will begin outside the Auditorium in the Academic Building. WORSHIP & WORKSHOPS All worship sessions will be held in the Auditorium located in the Academic Building. Workshops will be held in various classrooms within this building. Workshop assignments will be provided at registration. GUESTROOMS Most guestrooms, for those staying on campus, are apartment or townhouse style, accommodating 6-8 people each. Each guest bedroom has two single beds. Linens and towels are provided, including sheets, a pillow, comforter, washcloth, hand towel, bath towel, and soap. Guests should bring their own personal hygiene products (shampoo, etc). Light housekeeping services are provided. We make every attempt to keep clubs together in the same apartment. If you re not traveling with women from your club, we do our best to house you with women from your area. MEALS There are several options for meal purchases this year. Meals included in your registration fee include Saturday breakfast Sunday breakfast. This meal package is for all who stay on or off-campus! Optional, pre or postconference meals are available but must be ordered online during registration. These optional meals include Friday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Sunday lunch. All meals are buffet style and will be provided in the Dining Hall. If you forgot to pre-register for any pre/post/special meals, please go into your online registration and make the appropriate changes or contact Alecia Van Hulzen at alecia@gemsgc.org. SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS Redeemer Catering works hard to identify ingredients in menu items for those who have special dietary needs. It is their priority to do their best to accommodate all dietary needs and allergies. Please note they are not a nut free facility and cannot guarantee that food will not come in contact with nuts or nut products. If you did not communicate special dietary concerns or allergies, please contact Alecia Van Hulzen by email or phone. We will communicate with Redeemer Catering regarding any special needs and will contact you prior to the Conference regarding special plans or instructions. WHAT TO BRING Your Bible, pen, paper/notepad, hangers if desired, personal toiletry items, sunglasses, sunscreen, a light jacket or sweater, good walking shoes, an alarm clock, a water bottle, and any other items you find yourself unable to live without! Forgotten items, toiletries, merchandise and gifts can be purchased on-site at the Campus Bookstore. They also will have a variety of speaker books and speaker s book recommendations at the Bookstore. The Bookstore is open Thursday from 10:00am 4:00pm, Friday from 8:00am 6:30pm and on Saturday from 10:00am 5:00pm. Remember also that the Conference Supply Center will have all the items you may need for your GEMS season including new merchandise, materials, curriculum, theme supplies, and more! All sales will be in CAN currency (checks/ cash). Discover, Visa, and MasterCard accepted. Debit cards are also accepted. Don t forget your water bottle! Water fountains are located on the main floor near the library and on the second floor near the washroom.

WEATHER The weather in the summer months is generally warm and humid with temperatures averaging 30 degrees Celsius or in the high 80s, Fahrenheit. INTERNET ACCESS WiFi is available on campus. It has open access for all by clicking on Redeemer WiFi. You will automatically connect once you have accepted the terms and conditions. ATM MACHINE ATM Machines are located on campus. A service fee may be charged from the bank for withdrawals. CIT RECEPTION A special reception will be hosted for all CITs following the Opening Worship Celebration on Friday. We look forward to a special time together! FIRST AID/MEDICAL CENTER There are two walk-in medical clinics within 10 minutes of Redeemer University College. If an emergency arises and you are in need of a ride to either facility, the Local Conference Committee will assist you. EMERGENCY INFORMATION To leave emergency messages, day or evening, contact Evelina Oosterhof, Local Conference Committee Chairperson, at (613) 213-1568. Conference attendees will be notified of any messages. An on-campus emergency number is (905) 648-2131 extension 4124. After 4:00pm, call (905) 961-4444.
