The island of Serifos 4 The island of Serifos is a typical Cycladic island, full of serene white villages and golden beaches, alternating with wild mountains, bare hills and landscapes of unique beauty. The island can be reached from the port of Piraeus by ferry in 4 hours and 15 minutes and by speedboat in 2 hours and 15 minutes. There are regular daily early morning departures, except Friday, when the boat departs at 16.00. Boats return late evening everyday The surface of the island is 75 square kilometers and a coastline length is over 83 km. The island has a heliport. The island s permanent population in the 2011 census was 1,420 residents. The port of Livadi, as seen from Chora The island experienced growth during the period from late 19th to early 20th century, when mineral exploitation companies settled there to exploit the rich in minerals subsoil. With the abandonment of the minerals extraction activity a decline was observed in the island, but by the end of the last century there is a gradual recovery process, based primarily on tourism. Part A. The island of Serifos 7 CHURCHES - MONASTERIES There are 227 churches in the island. Several have been listed as historical monuments. Of particular interest are the churches of the Castle, the Chrisopigi Church, the Panagia Brysi, the Mountain Monastery, the Ageloktisti Katavati, the Saint Sozon Church, the Panagia Kochi Church, the Panagia Gournias, Virgin Mary Sand, St George Afendis, Saint Luke and Saint Constantine. Famous is the Kastromonastiro of the Archangels in the northeastern part of the island, built in 1572 with fortress type construction, high outer walls, battlements, small openings in the walls and one only main entrance. MUSEUMS The Archaeological Museum has sculptured exhibits of the Archaic and Hellenistic period. The Folklore and Folk Art Museum exhibits traditional island life items, like farming tools, household items and local costumes. The Museum of Religious Art in the Monastery of Vryssiani exhibits manuscripts, parchments with codes, pictures, old versions, reliquaries, sacred utensils, etc. Churches - Museums - Monuments

The Chora village 10 10 Chora has been listed as a traditional settlement by PD 10/19/1978 (GG 594/D) and is subject to special state protection The protection of the traditional settlements is implemented by specific bylaws of building requirements and by architectural control of the new constructions The traditional settlement of Chora.

Part C. The 11 The Serifos View Plot is the northern end of the listed traditional settlement of Chora.
