OBITUARY Shri Jyoti Basu, former longest serving Chief Minister in Indian history has died on 17th January 2010 at the age of 96. Shri Basu had a very cordial and affectionate relationship with DAMA. His strong support and keen interest on DAMA's all activities were well known. DAMA is grateful for his blessings over the years. He participated on invitation in various meetings of DAMA ; and inspired DAMA members by his gracious presence. He was requested officially to inaugurate the opening ceremony of DAMA's Hospital at Bidhannagar, Kolkata ; he also accepted the invitation. Unfortunately this could not materialize due to his demise. The President and members of DAMA express their deep sense of grief and sorrow at his sad departure and convey their condolences to his son, Chandan and other members of his family. Dr Tarun Biswas, a life member of DAMA passed away suddenly in the end of May 2010 at the age of 80 sustaining a heart attack. He was a bachelor and lived with his ailing younger brother Bimal, who is also a life member of DAMA. Tarun supported all activities of DAMA, and attended most of the DAMA related affairs.. He was attracted by his polite, sober and courteous behaviour, and will sadly missed by DAMA members. DAMA pays respectful homage in memory of Dr Tarun Biswas.
