Box 32125, Amarillo, TX 79120-2125 806-335-3175 or cell 806-654-4890 Home of the World Famous Kwahadi Dancers Venture Crew Nine, Troop 9, BSA, & GSA Troop 9! The Kwahadi Kiva located in Amarillo, Texas has become a popular outpost stop for Scouting and church youth groups as they travel along the way to and from Philmont and other mountain camps! Located on the High Plains of Texas, the Kiva is 238 miles from Philmont, and within a day s drive to numerous other Rocky Mountain camps. Over 21,000 Scouts and church youth have stayed at the Kiva since it opened on June 12, 2004! The Kiva is a fun and uplifting place to overnight your group. You can select a Kwahadi performance, meals, hot showers, and/or lodging. You can also just stop by on your journey for a travel break, meal, rejuvenation, a museum tour, and/or a Kwahadi performance! Lodging for traveling youth groups is available throughout the year. www.kwahadi.com You are always welcome at the Kwahadi Kiva, the gathering place! Enjoy the adobe ambience indoors in the Plaza, Kiva, Santa Fe Room, and Taos Room or under the stars on the Patio. The air-conditioned Kiva has 9 showers and large spaces. Ladies have their own shower area. Bring your own air mattresses, cots, and bedding. For fly-in groups, the Amarillo International Airport is nearby and charter bus or van rental service for the rest of your trip is available locally. 1

The world famous Kwahadi Dancers, Venture Crew 9, perform colorful pageants of the dance styles of the Southwest! Their show and the Kiva make a great adventure stop along your way to camp. Plan to see a show! Song of the Eagle A colorful pageant for the entire family! Cast of 60 dancers! 20 Performances in 2013! June 6,7,8,9*,14,15,21,22,28,29 July 5*,5,6,12,13,14*,19,20,26,27 Optional dinner 6:00 pm, Show - 7:00 pm *Sunday Matinee 3 pm (Additional shows may be scheduled for sufficient tour bus and youth group requests.) About The Kwahadi Dancers The Kwahadi Museum of the American Indian is home to the Kwahadi Dance Theater, Venture Crew 9, BSA. Over 1600 Scouts have performed as Kwahadis since 1944 in over 4500 performances in 48 states and overseas. We just celebrated our 67 th Anniversary and our 298th Eagle, Venture Ranger Award, and Girl Scout Gold Award! Kwahadi performances are scheduled on most Friday and Saturday nights in June and July and shows may be added on other nights when we have sufficient visitors. Philmont Shows You can see the Kwahadis in June and July on many Monday nights at the Philmont Training Center at 7:00 PM! The Kwahadis have traveled at their own expense to present over 120 shows for over 58,000 Scouters from all across America. This will be the 27th year of Kwahadi performances at the PTC! We love going to Philmont! In 2013 we plan to perform at the PTC on many Monday evenings in June and July. Museum and Trading Post During your stopover enjoy the fine art and artifacts of the Pueblo and Plains Indian people. The fine creations of over 100 Native American artists and artisans can be found in the Trading Post. Fine art, jewelry, Katchina dolls, pottery, rugs, t-shirts, craft supplies, souvenir patches, and Indian goods available. Lot s of other goodies too! Be sure to see the new Jack Bryant Neckerchief Slide Collection! 2 Come see the Kwahadis! You'll be glad you did! 2

3 Taking the Show on the Road! Maybe we ll come see you!! The crew was chosen by the International Olympic Committee to represent North America in the opening ceremonies of the International Extreme Games in Busan, S. Korea in the fall of 2008, and presented 18 performances for 20,000 Scouts in Ireland, Scotland, and England in the summer of 2009! On the 2010 100 th Anniversary of Scouting Show Tour they presented four shows on the regional stages at the 100 th Anniversary of Scouting National Jamboree at Ft. A. P. Hill, Virginia, and many shows along the way for Scout councils, communities, and camps. In 2011 the Kwahadi Dancers and our friends from the Kossa Dancers of Sulphur, LA, and the Koshare Dancers of La Junta, CO joined together to present 18 shows on an adventure which took us all the way to Halifax, Nova Scotia! The Kwahadis typically accept 80 to 100 shows each year at home and on the road for fundraisers and events for councils, OA lodges, districts, Scout camps, and community events coast to coast. The Kwahadis presented 6 shows on the 2012 Spring Break Show Tour across Texas and Louisiana. The 2012 Summer Midwest Show Tour included 11 shows and a repeat performance at the Michigan International Scout Camp on July 26. In 2013 we are looking at a return tour to the Northwest, and in 2014 we will perform from Ireland across to Rome on a European Show Tour! Plan a troop Weekend Adventure Trip! See the Winter Night Ceremonials! More and more troops who are able to travel the distance to Amarillo on weekends in January and February are finding their way back to the High Plains to enjoy our warm pinon pine fire and see the Kwahadis winter shows. These usually begin in mid-january and run on Friday and Saturday nights through February. The winter show is a collection of the colorful dances of the Southwest, completely different than the summer shows. We think it is our finest effort! Troops and families can stay at the Kiva, see the shows, and perhaps have time to hike in the cooler winter weather in Palo Duro Canyon State Park! 2013 Winter Night Ceremonials are most weekends in January and February!! 3
