H0018 29 th July to 4 th August 2018 Hampshire s 2018 camp will provide a rich and exciting experience for everyone from the youngest Beaver to the oldest Explorer, and all the Adult leaders, helpers, Network & Active Support in Hampshire and beyond. We wish to take the best from the 2007 H007 and 2014 H0014 camps and combining this with Dorset Scouts fantastic campsite at Buddens near Wareham. We would like everyone involved in Hampshire to celebrate Scouting, as a group or a section, with a fantastic week of activities and a special day midweek, called A Monster s Day out!, for day visitors to join us. Scout Groups from the UK and overseas are very welcome to join us. This document will help you 1. Activity Structure Camping Structure Infrastructure The week is packed with activities tailored to meet the needs of all ages, including many unique to large events. Wednesday A Monster s Day out! is a celebration of Hampshire Scouting, and has all the sections together for the day. This will be packed with high octane activities and will have a monster themed party atmosphere. There is a variety of evening entertainment available. Enjoy a Picturesque campsite Buddens is located in the heart of the beautiful district of Purbeck, Dorset and contains 95 acres of heathland, ancient woodland, water meadows, lakes and grass areas. Experience the atmosphere of a large Hampshire event With thousands of Cubs, Scouts, Explorers & leaders etc., events like A Monster s Day out! H0018 Programme An exciting programme of events is being planned, with the aim that every activity should be available to all age groups. H0018 Programme More details of the activities booked for H0018 will be found on the Website once the programme has been firmed up*. The final list of activities will be dependent on the number of participants. Prior to the event each Group & Section attending will receive a personalised timetable of the activities they are doing. This information will include when and where, plus anything they need to take with them. Day Visits The core programme has been designed to fill ~60% of your time on site (excluding evening entertainment). The organising team are offering the opportunity to visit a number of local attractions in your free time, including Brownsea Island Bovington Tank Museum Monkey World Note: these trips are not included in the cost of the camp but can be coordinated for you centrally. Hikes & other trips are possible although they will need to be self-organised. Evening Entertainment This will include both section specific and more general options, some of which will be at the discretion of the leaders. A Monster s Day out! Programme The day will consist of activities and a monsters parade. Beavers Beavers are invited to the A Monster s Day out!, taking part in the activities such as Dragon Boating & the monsters parade. Beavers can also camp the night before, when there will be a Camp Fire for the whole camp. *Ideas If anyone has an idea or a contact for an exciting activity that can be enjoyed by all ages and by a large number of participants, please let the organisers know; we have lots of ideas already but are always open to suggestions. Buddens Campsite Buddens is located in the heart of the beautiful district of Purbeck, Dorset and contains 95 acres of heathland, ancient woodland, water meadows, lakes and grassland, with individual camping areas dispersed across this patchwork of habitats. Most campsites are well maintained & mown grass, often with woodland, hedge or heathland boundaries. Buddens is near Wareham, just 23 miles from the Hampshire border. H0018 Booking Information The full H0018 camp bookings: To help plan the event we would appreciate confirmation that you would like to attend the full H0018 camp. We understand that you may not have precise numbers but your best guess would be appreciated. From the 1st November 2016 please confirm that you wish to attend along with your best guess at the likely level of attendance. With this information we will guarantee the price of the camp. From 1 st June to 30 th October 2017 we will ask for a deposit of 75 from each Scout Group/Explorer Unit wishing to attend. If we receive confirmation that you wish to attend after this date we may well have to charge you more as you will not benefit from block booking discounts from the suppliers of activities. 1 st March 2018 is the closing date for bookings, and we ask you to pay 50% of the camp fee by this date for each participant and the final payment of the camp fee by 31 st May 2018. We understand your numbers may change before the camp and with notification we can accept a variation of 10% based on the numbers you advised on 1 st March 2018. It is not possible to refund fees due to non-attendance as commitments will have already been made to the various suppliers of activities and equipment. A Monsters Parade Day out bookings 1st June 2018 is the closing date for bookings for the Day Visit. Full payment will also be required by this date. A subsequent +/- 10% variation in participant numbers will be accepted based on the numbers you advise on the 1 st June. H0018 Frequently Asked Questions Q. Will the campsite be split into section specific camping areas? A. We are encouraging sections to camp together as a Group, and accommodating section specific camping areas if needed. Q. Do I need a Camp Permit? A. The organisers hold a central permit but you should ask your DC. Q. What is not allowed on site A. Caravans unless specifically authorised by the organisers. Q. Is food provided? A. All catering must be organised by Groups, including Day Visitors. Q. Can over 18s and under 6s take part in activities? A. In general NO, they cannot. Exceptions are the Parade, Campfire & some evening entertainment. We will provide Young Leaders with opportunities to take part in some activities as a reward for helping their Section.
