The Fourth International Conference Directions for Catholic Educational Leadership in the 21st Century The Vision, Challenges and Reality Conference Overview The Fourth International Conference on Catholic Educational Leadership is convened by ACU National s Flagship for Creative & Authentic Leadership. The Flagship, under the direction of Professor Patrick Duignan, engages in research and development activities in the areas of education, business, health and community leadership. The Conference is privileged to have as Keynote speakers Professor Patrick Duignan, Professor Gail Furman from Washington State University, Dr. Padraig Hogan from National University of Ireland Maynooth (NUIM) and Archbishop John Michael Miller, Secretary to the Congregation for Catholic Education in Rome. As Director of the Flagship for Creative and Authentic Leadership, Patrick is highly recognised for his distinguished record as author of national and international publications, researcher, consultant and presenter on effective management and leadership in public sector institutions, with a special focus on leadership in schools. Gail is well known for her work in the area of leadership for community in schools, ethics and policy studies. Padraig currently holds the position of Acting Head of the NUIM s Education Department. He is part of the core team of professionals and academics in Teaching and Learning for the Twenty First Century (TL21), a research and development project focused on building capabilities of teachers that enable development of innovative learning methods for students in the context of twenty first century educational environment. A highly respected figure in Catholic education, Archbishop Miller is in charge of Roman Catholic universities and schools worldwide.
