Page 2 2 President s Corner Well, if you haven t yet talked to a member that was there, let me tell you that our MIATA MOUNTAIN EXTRAVAGANZA was something to be talked about!! Debbie and JR outdid themselves this year for our 25 th anniversary, and it was to be experienced. From the outlandish rainstorms that affected all attendees on Friday (and especially Jim Wells, JR and myself as we tried to run the Saturday drive route in the rain. We were looking for life vests, as the water started to get higher than the Miatas!!). The ZoomZoom bags from Mazda USA were full of wonderful items, along with the drive snacks and items that Debbie added. And a big THANKS!! to Mazda for sponsoring our dinner at the Arlington Hotel s Seafood Buffet on Friday evening. Everyone got a new club tshirt too, sporting the logo and a crest with our 25 th highlighted. Everyone said their prayers on Friday evening, and Saturday dawned bright.. and dry!! It was perfect weather to put the tops down and head out for a great drive in Garland County. The route took us from the East Mountain to the West Mountain, past Lake Hamilton, down Central Ave. and by Oaklawn Park. Lunch at Home Plate Café in Hot Springs Village was wonderful, and it was even fun sharing the front dining room with the motorcyclists. The drive back to Hot Springs by the same route in reverse from the morning was even better than the morning route. Once back in Hot Springs, the trip to the Gangster Museum was very entertaining, and everyone listened intently and jumped when the guy started to fall through the wall.. Dinner at Rolando s wasn t spectacular, due to the business of the bar and restaurant and drinks and dinner that weren t delivered until almost everyone had left!! However, those that stayed enjoyed Mojitos and Ecuadorian dinner while the others tried out the new pub at the Superior Bath House. Sunday dawned bright and beautiful again, and we all met on the veranda of the Arlington to rehash Saturday evening and enjoy the fresh air. Then onto the Arlington Sunday Brunch, which filled us all and got everyone ready for a drive home.
