Also, we have the first day of spring on March 20 th. Hope all Corvette Limited members are doing well. Everyone had a nice time at the beautiful home of Doug and Linda Mitts for Super Bowl 50. Good food, good spirits, and a chance to win some bucks on the several pools that they had going. Congratulations to all the lucky winners. Hey Doug and Linda, I and the club members want to thank you for hosting this great American past time at your home. Max s Restaurant seems to be a favorite for the monthly social dinner. Thanks Don Meyers. Speaking of the monthly social dinners, I am hosting the social dinner in March at Stonefire Grill. Hope to see you all there. We still have some positions that need to be filled. Please see me before the next meeting if you would be interested in volunteering for one of these positions. In the meantime, there will be a sign-up sheet for activities and social events at the next general meeting. Gary and Lois Offstein recently purchased a 2011 Grand Sport. Congratulations. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next general meeting. LEIF LEIF HAGMAN, PRESIDENT SUNSHINE LADY Our Sunshine Lady would appreciated hearing both good and bad news from Club Members. GET-AROUND GAZETTE PAGE 6 MEMBERSHIP NEWS & VIEWS HAPPY ST. PATRICK S DAY! Hope you all enjoy the green beer. We had a great time at the Super Bowl Party at Doug and Linda Mitts home. Although it was very windy, a few intrepid souls watched the game outside. Many, many more stayed warn and un-wind-blown and watched the game on one of the TV s inside. Being a potluck, there was plenty of yummy food to keep our strength up during the game. Congratulations to all our pool winners. I knew I was in trouble when my pool numbers were 9-2, 2-9 and 9-2. Probably the worse numbers possible. THANK YOU DOUG and LINDA for again opening your beautiful home for the party. There is still time to get your reservation in for the Gambler s Classic in Laughlin in April. This is a great weekend and includes dinner and entertainment Friday night and a poker run and car show on Saturday. Please be sure to check the membership list and let me know if you have any changes in your information. If you have already contacted me, the changes have been made. Debbie Hagman will be preparing a new membership list to give out in April. THANK YOU DEBBIE. DOROTHY MEMBERSHIP: DOROTHY McCAIN NEXT SOCIAL: MARCH 16, 2016 STONEFIRE GRILL 473 N. ROSEMEAD BLVD. GET-AROUND GAZETTE PAGE 8 TECH TALK One of the last things I would except see was a check engine light on a C 7 with 1100 miles on it. Drove the car home and put it into the garage, everything was working normal. Next day I was going to go out for a ride, started car up and the check engine light came on. Got out the scanner/code reader and found code U0101 TCM failure, Transmission control module. The code could not be erased. That means it is a hard code and repairs are necessary. Since the part is over $1,000 it would be have to be repaired at the dealership, dread the thought. Having read the owners manual I knew there was a fuse box under the hood, on the passenger side. About 80 various fuses and relays were in the box. On the cover was the Captain Zoom decoder. Number 46 was the TCM, a tiny 15 amp fuse. Off to the tool box for a flash light and magnifying glass and took a real GOOD LOOK The fuse was not blown but it appeared to be slightly higher than other fuse in the row by at least 1/32 of an inch. I pushed it down and went back to the scanner/code reader and cleared the code. Well that saved a trip to the dealership and gave me an idea, if one was not fully down others may be in the same position. Actually 12 were pushed down. This fuse box is one that may have to be removed in order to change the spark plugs. Removal of the fuse box out of the way will require disconnecting the battery supply wire. When the supply wire is disconnected the memory is erased for a lot of items, Transmission, seats mirrors etc., etc. The good part of this it only needs to be done every 100,000 miles for a plug change.
