We ve had some fabulous days though, over the last three months; in particular, our National Open Day and Summer Fete. We also celebrated the Queens 90 th birthday. We even had a lovely letter from the Queen thanking us for her invitation to our party, which was being held in her honour something that Overslade house will treasure. The weather hasn t stopped us for going on our Promote an event Charity event Macmillan Coffee Morning Climb mount Kilimanjaro!!! News in and around Overslade e Mini bus trips Our mini bus trip has taken us to lots of exciting places over the last three months: shopping excursions, tea dances, tropical bird land, Leamington Spa to a lovely mystery tour around Northampton shire ending in an enjoyable lunch out at a garden center. For next three months planned trips out; we hope to be going to American diner, exploring Warwick, Hillmorton boat watching to our monthly lunch out at our local community center and much more. All trips are available for all our units. If you have any suggestions for trips out it would be greatly appreciated. Tropical Bird Land Our Entertainers Here at Overslade House we try and have at least three entertainers a month. They range from singers, musicians, and performers. Of course, we have our favorites; we love Lesley Ann who sounds very much like Doris Day, here our residents always dance to her tunes, and we also love Wild Bill, Line dancer. Overslade House is proud to announce that Helen Levine has won the Administrator Award for our division and Mandy Smith the Head of Housekeeping also picking up our divisions award. They are both invited to the Chelsea office, followed by an open top bus tour of London and an invitation to the Care Awards luncheon in Manchester in October. Well done girls for shining and always having a smiley disposition, keep up the good work.
News in and around Overslade National Open Day and Summer Fete Our National Open Day and Summer Fete was a resounding success! Not only was the weather on our side, but we had crowds of new faces to support us. Our theme this year was Cowboys and Indians, with staff and relatives joining in by dressing up. The activities team worked tirelessly to recreate and make wonderful props from the teepee, totem pole, cactus, TNT box and dynamite. There was even Clint Eastwood, a sheriff, Indian chief and lots of cowboys. We had tin can alley, Indian archery, war paint, guess the weight of the cake, hand print a horse and bucking bronco, which was very popular. We also had some fabulous entertainment from the Headington Hillbillies, Paul the Merry Minstrel and Wild Bill line dancing. There was lots of audience participation from dancing to hand clapping and singing. Most of our residents came outside to watch and we also had a visit from Willow Tree Nursing Home who brought some of their residents too joining in on the fun all in all a great family day out was had by all including one of our residents Audrey who has only recently joined us having been ill for 9 weeks in hospital this was Audrey s first time out she said she enjoyed all the noise and entertainment and was amazed at how welcome she felt.
