A b o u t t h e P r o g r a m Through this program you will have the valuable experience of planning and running your own event (or events) from start to finish! You will be responsible for planning all the logistics of the event, including securing necessary sponsorship, marketing the event, completing risk assessments and managing any team members...but rest assured, we will be there to support you every step of the way! Past events have included sports tournaments, talent competitions and community awareness events. Events organised through this program must always be in line with EDGE of AFRICA s ethos and must benefit the community and/or assist in promoting EDGE of AFRICA s various projects. Not only will this program provide you with a fantastic opportunity to fine tune your skills, but you will also have the fulfilling experience of immersing yourself in our local culture! Please note the aim of this program is for you to gain valuable experience by planning your own events (you will not be working alongside a professional events planner, although you will always have the support of the EDGE Team!)

Every second Saturday you will have the chance to participate in a variety of exciting excursions! Sundays are left free for you to relax and enjoy exploring our beautiful surroundings.
Challenge Level: Comfortable You will have access to all amenities including running water, electricity and internet. Most bankcards work at local banks (VISA, MasterCard, AMEX). You will also find that you can purchase almost anything at local shops. Recommended for those who enjoy visiting restaurants and shops, as well as having daily communication with friends and family at home. Who should apply? This program is ideal for those studying in the field of Events Management, however we also welcome anyone who has a passion for planning events and is able to be pro-active and show initiative. You will need to be hard working, motivated and mature. Volunteers also need to be confident with speaking English.

Knysna is a 4 hour s drive to Addo National Park; home to the highest concentration of Wild Elephants in the world Fly into Cape Town, and spend a few days exploring the city before hopping on the Bus to Knynsa Combine any of our Knysna Programs and have a full, unique volunteering experience
Accommodation The EDGE of AFRICA lodge is a beautiful Victorian House, perfectly situated on a slope, overlooking the Knysna Lagoon. A place where you can put your feet up and admire the view or take a two minute stroll to town and explore the hotspots of Knysna. As well as providing a home for our volunteers, our lodge also accommodates other International travellers, so there will be no shortage of new people to meet! Facilities Include: Hot water showers & electricity Communal kitchen Communal lounge area with TV/DVD Player Comfortable dorm style sleeping arrangements Unlimited Wi-Fi and computer access Outdoor braai (barbeque) area
Arrival & Departure Info You can fly into Johannesburg, Cape Town or Port Elizabeth and catch a connecting flight to GEORGE (GRJ), which is our nearest airport (where we will we be waiting to welcome you!) You can also get the bus from Johannesburg, Cape Town or Port Elizabeth which is a good way to see the area if you have time before your arrival date. If you decide to take the bus, a return bus ticket is included FREE of charge and we can help book this for you. We are also more than happy to assist you with booking overnight accommodation in your arrival city and advising on tours! On departure, we will transport you to the airport or bus stop, and/ or assist with any further travel arrangements. If you are travelling further through Africa we are more than happy to provide any advice or support in planning your onward journey. We will provide you with a comprehensive Pre-Travel Advice pack when you confirm your booking with us that will outline all our recommendations for flights, packing and in-country advice.
