Indiana Motorcycle Tour 2018 Passport

ABATE of Indiana s 2018 Tour Indiana Registration Form Submit to: ABATE Tour Indiana, PO Box 665, Bargersville, IN 46106 If you have any questions, please email tour@abateonline.org You MUST include a photocopy of your drivers license, with the proper motorcycle endorsement to be eligible (passengers are not required to have endorsement.) Guidelines for the Tour Eligibility: Any person with a passport, who can show proof of motorcycle license endorsement by sending a photocopy of their license with completed passport (passenger not required to have endorsement). Only one passport per person accepted. Couples: Couples (riding on the same motorcycle) must use separate passports to be eligible for prizes. Completion Date: December 31, 2018 all passports and/or pictures must be post-marked by January 15, 2019. Categories: There will be five categories for the tour; North, Central and South Point of Interest Tours, the ABCs of Indiana Tour and the Hoosier Motorcyclist Sponsor Tour. Tour Patches: Tour patches will be awarded to all participants. Tour Awards Package 1 A drawing will be held no later than the ABATE Awards Banquet in February 2019. 2 A total of $1,500 cash prizes will be given away. 3 The TOTAL cash prize will be divided equally between the tours. $900 will be divided between the North, Central and South Points of Interest Tours. $600 will be divided between the ABC s of Indiana and the Hoosier Motorcyclist Sponsor Tours. 4 There are a maximum of 120 chances per passport that can be accumulated from the Tour for the drawing of the cash prizes. Participants are eligible to win all cash prizes. 5 Anyone accumulating all 120 chances will automatically receive a one-year ABATE of Indiana membership. 6 Anyone completing one Points-of-Interest Tour and the ABCs of Indiana Tour will qualify for one chance at an all-events pass for 2019. Additional chances can be earned by adding a picture of the ABATE of Indiana state office, the Indiana State Motorcycle Safety Memorial and/or Coliseum Bingo ( Freedom Hall). A total of four chances can be earned for an all-events pass. There will be 14 passes given away. 7 If less than three participants complete either category of the tour, the money will be divided equally among those who have participated in any of the tours.

How the tour works Points of Interest: Participants may visit the points of interest listed in this passport. Participants may ride the North Tour (Regions 0, 1, 2, 3, 4), Central Tour (Regions 5, 6, 11, 12) or South Tour (Regions 7, 8, 9, 10, 13) separately, any combination of two, or all three. A Point of Interest is listed in each Region (two in Region 11). There are five points of interest in each of the North, Central and South Tours (15 total). Participants simply take a picture of their motorcycle and themselves in front of the point of interest, while displaying the cover of the tour book. Couples (riding the same motorcycle) can take a picture of each other with their motorcycle, while displaying the cover page of the tour book. Participants will qualify for 2 chances per picture to win cash prizes for each of these tours they complete. ABCs of Indiana: Participants must take a picture of their motorcycle and themselves in front of the name of a city, town or county sign using the alphabet A through Z (there is no X), while displaying the cover of the tour book. Couples (riding the same motorcycle) can take a picture of each other with their motorcycle, while displaying the cover of the tour book. You also need a picture of 5 State Parks or State/National Forests. Participants will receive 2 chances for each letter of the alphabet, State/National Park or State/National Forest. There are a total of 60 chances available for this tour. Hoosier Motorcyclist Sponsor Tour: Participants in this tour must take a picture of their motorcycle and themselves at any BUSINESS that has an advertisement in the Hoosier Motorcyclist magazine, while displaying the cover of the tour book. Couples (riding the same motorcycle) can take a picture of each other with their motorcycle, while displaying the cover of the tour book. Participants need to do this at 15 businesses that advertise in the magazine, and will receive one chance for each. Bonus: Complete all 5 Tours (3-Points of Interest, ABCs and Hoosier Motorcyclist Sponsor) and receive an additional 15 chances!

Region 0 North Tour Swiss Heritage Village & Museum N40 40.059 W84 56.900 1200 Swissway Road Berne, IN 46711 260-589-8007 Chartered in 1985, the village is now the largest outdoor museum in northern Indiana. While you visit the the site, read about the buildings and grounds and the events sponsored by the Swiss Heritage Society. You will learn how the Swiss settlers lived in the area more than a century ago. The 26 acre site has a school, church, farm house, cheese house and cider press. Region 1 North Tour National Humane Alliance Fountain N41º40.900 W86º15.700 802 Lincoln Way West South Bend, IN 46616 The National Humane Alliance Fountain is one of a series of granite drinking fountains distributed by the National Humane Alliance, intended to provide fresh drinking water for horses, dogs, cats, and people. About 125 of the fountains were donated to cities throughout the United States and Mexico between 1904 and 1912. The main bowl, intended for horses, is 6 feet in diameter. The lower pedestal is 18 inches high and has niches on each side with drinking bowls near ground level for dogs, cats, and other small animals. Region 2 North Tour Meyer s Castle N41º29.450 W87º29.820 1370 Joliet Street Dyer, IN 46311 219-865-8542 Meyer s Castle is the former residence of Joseph Ernest Meyer, one of Hammond s first millionaires. The Castle was constructed from 1927-1931 in the Jacobethan style by architect Cosbey Bernard, Sr. The house was built as a private residence. The style is a replica of a Scottish castle. Region 3 North Tour Kokomantis N40º29.195 W86º8.012 NE corner of Washington Street and Sycamore Street Kokomo, IN 46901 Kokomantis is located on the corner of Washington Street and Sycamore Street in downtown Kokomo. The praying mantis stands 17 ft. tall, 22 ft. long and is 6 ft. wide. Kokomantis is constructed from re-purposed metal. The torso and wings are made of WW II fuel pontoons, and the legs are made from stop light arms. The mantis was constructed by Scott Pitcher. Region 4 North Tour Save The Energy Murals N 40º 29.504 W86º51.616 5239 N. 9th Street Road West Lafayette, in 47906 Located 0.3 mile north of Burnetts Road on North 9th Street between Battle Ground and West Lafayette. Save the Energy murals are painted on the I-65 bridge supports over North 9th street near exit 178. The murals were painted by artist Key Detail from Minsk, Belarus. He has murals and street art across the United States of America and several countries in Europe. A picture of either mural will represent this Point of Interest. Region 5 Central Tour Wilbur Wright Birthplace And Museum N 39º57.282 W85º14.585 1525 N. County Road 750 E. Hagerstown, IN 47346 Located about three miles north of State Road 38 and about three miles south of US Highway 36. At the Wilbur Wright Birthplace and Museum you can discover what life was like on the Wright farm in the 1860 s. Watch excerpts from some of the Wright videos concentrating on Kitty Hawk. State Road 135 Nashville, IN 47448 The town of Story was founded as a logging community in 1851, with the grant of a land patent from President Millard Fillmore to Dr. George P. Story. In the early 1980 s two hippies from Bloomington bought and re-assembled the old town, and created the Story Inn. Today, Story is Indiana s premier country inn, and perhaps the best preserved example of a 19th Century village that survives in the American Midwest. Region 7 South Tour MGP of Indiana N39º5.755 W84º51.511 Near the corner of US Highway 50 and Main Street Lawrenceburg, IN 47025 MGP of Indiana is a distillery in Lawrenceburg. The distillery was founded in 1847 and purchased by Seagram in 1933. While under their ownership, the distillery was called the Joseph E. Seagram Lawrenceburg Plant. When Seagram went out of business, its assets were acquired by other companies, and the Lawrenceburg distillery became the property of Penrod Ricard. Region 8 South Tour Dream Car Museum N38º0.011 W87º33.682 2400 N. Heidelbach Ave. Evansville, IN 47711 888-482-9864 The Dream Car Museum is presented by Bennett Motors. It exhibits over 50 cars and trucks, including exotics, classics, muscle cars, race cars, movie and TV cars, motorcycles and memorabilia. Region 9 South Tour Indiana Caverns N38º10.942 W86º9.000 1267 Green Acres Drive SW Corydon, IN 47112 812-734-1200 When the Indiana Cavern s portion of Binkley Cave was discovered in 2010, massive amounts of prehistoric bones were seen. The name Big Bone Mountain was coined immediately. On February 11, 2012, a connection between Blowing Hole and Binkley caves was discovered. The Binkley Cave System became the 11th longest in the nation and the longest in Indiana. There are extended hours Memorial Day to early August. Closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Region 10 South Tour Virgil I. Grissom Monument N38º43.756 W86º28.268 407 S. 6th Street Mitchell, IN 47446 A 44-foot, 28-ton limestone statue of Virgil I. Grissom s Atlas Rocket with the Gemini 3 capsule stands on the park lawn of Mitchell s City Hall. The base of the monument consists of four 10 ton limestone tablets hand-carved with the history of Grissom s military and space flights. The monument took 15 years to complete and was funded entirely of donations from the Mitchell community and others from Indiana. It is on the site once occupied by the South Side Riley School, Grissom s elementary school. Bricks from the school were used for the wall surrounding the monument. Edinburgh, IN 46124 Located between Mauxferry Road and Schoolhouse Road, the Camp Atterbury Outdoor Museum is home to an array of military equipment from the last 70 years as well as the Camp Atterbury Memorial Wall of Honor, walk and reflecting pool. Region 11 Central Tour 2 The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park: 100 Acres N39º49.558 W86º11.329 West 38th Street Indianapolis, IN 46208 The parking lot entry is located at 1850 West 38th Street NOTICE: Due to construction in the area, you may not have access to the entrance. If you can t enter, we will accept a photo of the Newfields building. Adjacent to the Indianapolis Museum of Art and located on 100 acres, the park is one of the largest museum art parks in the country, and features the ongoing commission of site-specific art works. Region 12 Central Tour Clay City Pottery Stoneware N39º16.223 W87º6.435 510 E. 14th Street Clay City, IN 47841 800-776-2596 Clay City Pottery is one of the few family potteries still making traditional stoneware. They have been making pottery for well over a hundred years. The fifth and sixth generation of the Griffith family are working at the pottery. The traditional stoneware is kiln fired for about 72 hours at a temperature of 2300º Fahrenheit. The stoneware is dishwasher, oven and microwave safe. Region 13 South Tour Odon Veterans Memorial N 38º50.701 W86º58.987 E. State Road 58 Odon, IN 47562 Erected by Odon American Legion Post 293 and Odon VFW Post 9627. The marker is dedicated to all Odon and surrounding area veterans. The names of veterans and the conflicts they served are found on several concrete tiles at the base of the Memorial.
