European traffic (+7.7 %) was the main growth generator up to now but lost its dynamics. Due to the early date of the autumn school vacation period the departing vacation traffic was mainly in the month of September. Consequently, traffic toandfromsoutheuropewasrelatively"weak".thepassengercountforeuropewasstillupby6.2%comparedto+17.2 % for the first ten months of. At the end of the summer season there wasstill much growthconnected to traditional vacation spots. In contrast to the trend so far this year there was an 8 % higher passenger count for passengers to and from the Caribbean Sea region. North Africa recorded a double-digit growth rate (+19.5 %). Tunisia was up by even 31.2 %. Traffic to and from Egypt levelled off somewhat after a long period of growth. RegardingtheFarEasttherewasa4.growthrateforThailand.Overall,theFarEastdidnotgainpassengers(-0.4%). Travel to and from India was up slightly. The use of smaller aircraft by airlines effected a noticeable lower passenger count on routes to and from Peking and Hong Kong. There was a substantial decline of passengers connected to the Middle East. There were noticeable declines for Iran, Qatar and Dubai.

Airfreight recorded 185,900 mt and down 1.0 %. Airmail reported 7,500 mt and this was a plus of 0.7 % compared to October. The development of air cargo traffic in October was in line with economic indicators. Industrial production in the euro region was down somewhat. Concerns about the world economic situation, trade impairments, political insecurity and rising prices have slowed down demand. Regarding the German industrial production the indicators show that exports will slightly decline. At outbound cargo declined more than inbound cargo (-1.3 % outbound and -0.2 % inbound). There were 2,800 more movements than in October. Thus, the trend of setting new monthly records continued in October. There were over 1,500 aircraft movements on 20 days in October. This did not happen once in October. There were 8.2 % more flights to and from other airports in Germany in October. This was mainly due to more passenger services (flights) being offered to and from Berlin. Concerning other European traffic all regions recorded positive growth rates (overall a plus of 7.4 %). The leader was East Europe where new connections to and from the Ukraine (Kiev) and Hungary(Budapest) effected the growth. Concerning other European regions Iceland, Ireland, Malta, Portugal, Croatia and Greece achieved the highest growth rates. The intercontinental passenger count was up by 2.3 % in October. The North African countries Tunisia and Egypt were growth generators. Mauritius and South Africa also contributed to the growth connected to Africa. New connections to and from the Dominion Republic and Costa Rica effected an upward trend in Middle America. Only traffic connected to Asia stagnated. The growth related to Kazakhstan, Japan and China was offset by the declines connected to Saudi Arabia and India (Pune). Freighter aircraft flights in October (+2.8 %) developed below average to the overall offer of services (flights). The intercontinental freight traffic was up by 8.6 %. The USA, Asian part of Russia and China were the major growth generators. The European freight connections, however, declined by the same amount.
