Aug - Beat the Heat Breakfast Tour Message from our President Hi to all Members of the Mother Lode Model T Club. May is here, the sun is out, flowers are blooming and the Model T's are purring down the road. We just finished our 10th Annual Gil Machado Memorial Shakedown Tour hosted by Susie. There were a total of 20 cars so Susie broke it down into three groups of 7 cars leaving five minutes apart to keep from backing up traffic and it seemed to work out real well. We had a short drive to Colfax for the Gary donut stop, and then on to Grass Valley to the Northstar Mining Museum, which everyone seemed very interested in. We had a private tour given by Ray, a local docent who was very knowledgeable about the mine and was able to start some of the equipment for us. Then it was off to lunch and back home. A special congratulations to Bobby and Erik as I heard the Wild Cherry II finally took first place in their division in the hill climb. We will only have one more meeting before our June 3 Swap Meet. Please come to the meeting to sign up for the different work details as we need all the help we can get, or you can always contact myself to find out what you can do to make our swap meet a successful event. We will have a May 7 Board Meeting regarding the Swap Meet and all members are welcome to attend. I would like to thank everyone for all your support and help in keeping the Mother Lode Model T Club active, and I look forward to seeing you at the May Monthly Meeting. Your President, Gary Krezman T Diggins' page 1

Tenth Annual Gil Machado Memorial Shakedown Tour On April 28, 2018 twenty cars left Raley's Parking lot in Auburn and headed to Colfax via Placer Hills Road. That included a group of five cars from the Sacramento Valley Club. Thank you to Sherry Rodriquez for collecting $5.00 from everyone as a donation to the Northstar Mining Museum. This year we decided to try sending out the cars in three different groups. In the past we have had trouble with us slowing down traffic and the modern cars not being able to pass such a large group. This worked well and may be how we travel with a larger group. Thank you to Chris Instness, Mike Bashore and Gary Krezman for leading the three groups on this tour. Our groups stopped in Colfax at the Train Depot where my daughter Mindy and her husband Bruce hosted a donut and rest stop. Thank you for helping us out this year. From Colfax we traveled via Hwy 174 to Northstar Mining Museum in Grass Valley. Our Docent, Ray, opened up the museum a few days early for our group. Normally, they open on May 1. Do go by the museum, it is well worth the time. Check their website, they have limited docents so they have shortened the hours they are open. When the first group arrived at the Museum, one of the members from the Sacramento Club fell and required stitches. Phil Lawrence was available with a modern pick up to take her to the hospital. Her car landed up on the trouble truck for the ride home. I just got off the phone with Phil and he reported that our fellow Model T'er, Sue, has a few stitches on her forehead and has been released from the emergency room in Grass Valley. We all wish you a speedy recovery Sue. On to lunch at the Royal Dragon near the K Mart Store. From there we traveled down Dog Bar Road for the ride home. Such a beautiful day to tour, green meadows, the Dogwoods were in bloom and there was a least three different wildflowers in bloom. Thank you to Eula Marriott and her daughter Susie for driving the trouble truck. I have so much appreciation for all the help all of you give me in order to put this Annual Shakedown Tour on. I know my Dad would be proud of all of us keeping this club alive and well. Susie Krezman, Tour Leader
