PAGE 2 Introduction This beautiful and varied country Jordan - has everything to offer for a brilliant one-week family adventure holiday. With watching chariot racing, discovering lost cities, multiple swimming opportunities, desert camping and general running around it s awesome! We start with the Roman city of Jerash where gladiators and chariots once where the norm, before travelling to Mt Nebo and the Dead Sea for a float and to cover ourselves in mud (optional!). Of course we have a full day in the magical city of Petra, walking in through the famous Siq, pictures with the dressed up soldiers are a must for the kids! We then delve into the stunning desertscapes of Wadi Rum for some 4WD action, camping under the stars with the Bedoiun and maybe a camel ride.our last stop is the turquoise waters of Aqaba on the Red Sea for a bit of R&R, snorkelling or watersports. This is a great little holiday in Jordan, which simply sparkles with fun family activities, incredible ancient sites and plenty of interaction with the beautiful people of this friendly country. Is this holiday for you? Suitable for children from 5yrs old We have a couple of drives between 3-4 hrs on this holiday, so it s good to prepare for this hopefully the kids will have got to know each other by this time and can natter, whilst you snooze or watch the scenery! Everyone must be able to swim to take part in the water based activities. It can be hot in the day, so hats, loose clothes and suncream are essential packing items. It cools of at night and in the winter months, so fleeces are also required. There is one night of camping in the desert with the Bedouin in a camp and the rest of the hotels have swimming pools. Holiday Itinerary Day 1: Meet at the group hotel in Amman. A single transfer from Amman Airport is provided. Meet at the group hotel in Amman. There will be a single group transfer in the evening from Amman Airport. KE group package services begin with overnight at the group hotel. HOTEL WITH SWIMMING POOL Day 2: Visit the Roman city of Jerash. The Roman city of Jerash is approximately a 1hr drive from Amman. We arrive here in the mid-morning and we have plenty of time to explore. Jerash is one of the best preserved walled Roman cities in the world and spanned from 700BC to the fall of Constantinople around 1450 AD. We can walk along the Colonnaded Street, see remains of colourful mosaic flooring, and visit one or both of the amphitheatres which are still complete with numbered seats. Jerash is incredible and gives us a great insight to what life was like during these times. We return to Amman and our hotel later in the day. HOTEL WITH SWIMMING POOL MEALS B Day 3: Mt Nebo, down to the Dead Sea for a swim/float, onwards to Petra.

PAGE 3 Departing Amman we head to Mount Nebo, where Moses was said to have seen the Promised Land before he died. We have a quick stop at this important Christian sight before continuing down to the Dead Sea. This super salty lake is 400m below sea level, the lowest place on Earth, and just great fun to float around in. We spend some time here bobbing around in the famously therapeutic waters and reading the newspaper (just like in the photos!). We can also have a mud bath for a messy mineral spa experience which the children always find hilarious. After a well needed shower we continue our adventure and transfer to Wadi Musa (approximately 3hrs), the gateway to Petra where we overnight in preparation for tomorrow. HOTEL WITH SWIMMING POOL MEALS BL Day 4: The Lost City of Petra. Optional Jordanian cooking class. This is a very special place, which will evoke memories for many years to come. Walking in through the steep sided, thin, entrance known as the Siq (just like Indiana Jones did) and seeing the enormous Treasury unfolding in front of you is quite remarkable. This city was hewn out of the red rocks around 600 BC by the Nabatean People and was never found by the western world until a Swiss chap in the early 1800's dressed as a local and followed the rumour mill to discover the city well hidden in between the mountains. Petra is enormous and we can do a lot of walking if we are interested in the seeing the Roman road, amphitheatre and the Monastery, or simply marvel at the amazing colours of the sandstone formations. Amongst other things we will learn about the sophisticated water system that can support 30,000 inhabitants - an incredible place. There are plenty of trinket stalls and places to buy cool drinks and rest if we are hot. After our visit we return to Wadi Musa. Tonight there is an optional visit to 'Petra Kitchen' where we can learn to cook typical Jordanian cuisine. HOTEL WITH SWIMMING POOL MEALS B Day 5: Explore the Wadi Rum desert by 4WD, foot or camel. Leaving the mountains we drive down the King s Highway to meet the Desert Highway (great road names!) and onto Wadi Rum (2-3 hrs drive). Every spot in Jordan seems to be seeped in history and full of stories, the desert at Wadi Rum is no different - it is simply stunning. We meet our Bedouin hosts and head out by 4WD to explore the red sands and rocky outcrops. We walk around and jump and tumble down the dunes. If we wish we can have an optional camel ride. They are not the most comfortable of beasts to sit on, but great fun for a short trip. Tonight we stay with the Bedouin, at a camp that is centred around a large, traditional Bedouin tent, made of tough goathair fabric. There is also a toilet and shower facilities. Meals are cooked on a fire and we enjoy the evening around the fire under the enormous sky of stars. We can either sleep in the tent or outside under the stars. This is a great experience and children and parents alike always love it. BEDOUIN CAMP MEALS BLD Day 6: Transfer to Aqaba for some R&R or snorkelling in the Red Sea. We wake early with the sun rising over the horizon and warming us in our sleeping bags. After breakfast with the Bedouin we say goodbye to our friendly hosts, their camels and the desert and travel to Aqaba. It's about a 1 hr drive. We check into our hotel and have the afternoon free. Here the Rea Sea is warm, clear and beautifully turquoise. At the beach here we can do some snorkelling or maybe take an optional trip out on a boat. Alternatively we can relax with a coffee and a book or just watch the world go around. There is also a pool at the hotel.

PAGE 4 HOTEL WITH SWIMMING POOL MEALS B Day 7: Morning at the Red Sea, mid afternoon transfer to Madaba. We have another morning to enjoy what this seaside town as to offer. After lunch we set off back up the desert highway to Madaba, taking us approximately 4 hours. Madaba has Ottoman style houses as well as a famous mosaic. We overnight here as it is best situated to transfer to the airport in the morning. We enjoy our last Jordanian dinner. HOTEL WITH SWIMMING POOL MEALS B Day 8: Departure day. Many of the flavours centre around herbs, garlic, onion and tomato sauces. There are plenty of salads, flat breads and mezzes platters. Kebabs (kofte) of lamb or beef are also popular along with barbequed or pan fried meats. Rice and chicken are also popular. Jordan is one of the world s largest producers of olives, so there is plenty of olive oil and fresh olives. The food can be spicy, but usually restaurants/cafes have options for children to fill up on such as chips or fried fish. Seasonal fresh fruit is also abundant and readily available. It is not a problem being a vegetarian in Jordan. It is not recommended to drink untreated water from the taps. If you are on a trekking or cycling holiday, water is supplied to fill up your individual bottles. This will be boiled, filtered or provided in large jerry cans or 5 litre bottles. Additionally you should take purification tablets or a filter bottle (such as a Water-To-Go bottle) to treat your water when in towns or where water is not supplied. We do not encourage the purchasing of single use plastic bottles. Please look for a representative with a KE sign between the arrival gate and before the immigration desks and they will accompany you to arrange the free visa and passport stamp. The free visa is reliant on us receiving your passport and flight details prior to travel and to you meeting with the KE representative before heading to immigration to join the single timed transfer. Electricity Supply & Plug We recommend you check if you require an adaptor for your electrical items at:

PAGE 8 http://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/ Climate Jordan is generally hot and dry, although from Autumn to Spring, during the winter months it is pleasantly warm during the days and cold at night. It is cooler in the Amman region average 12-14 C and 21-22 C in Aqaba during the daytime in Dec/Jan. Easter is a beautiful time to go with warm days and nights, and during the summer it is hot in the 32 C Amman and higher in Aqaba. We will rise early and rest in the shade in the hottest parts of the day during these periods. Aqaba is also lovely with the sea breeze and swimming in the sea. Travel Aware As a reputable tour operator, KE supports the British Foreign & Commonwealth Offices' Travel Aware campaign to enable British citizens to prepare for their journeys overseas. The 'Travel Aware' website provides a single, authoritative source of advice for all kinds of travellers and we recommend that prior to travel, all KE clients visit the official UK Government website at travelaware.campaign.gov.uk and read the FCO Travel Advice for their chosen destination. North Americans can also check out the U.S. Department of State website: www.travel.state.gov for essential travel advice and tips. KE treat the safety and security of all clients as the most important aspect of any trip we organise. We would not run any trip that we did not consider reasonably safe. Should the FCO advise against travel for any reason, we will contact everyone booked to travel to discuss the situation. We receive regular updates direct from the FCO and are in constant touch with our contacts on the ground. If you have any questions about government travel advice, please call our office. Single Use Plastic KE do not encourage the use of single use plastic items. We are ensuring that our agents all over the world are working together to reduce the problem and educate those around them. We are leading by example in our KE office by reducing our plastic use. We have pledged to AITO s Project Protect that 70% of our agents stop using single use plastic bottles. Flight Information Flight Inclusive Or Land Only? On our website we display a UK Flight inclusive package price and Land only package price for the majority of our holidays. Flight Inclusive Notes The FLIGHT INCLUSIVE dates and prices are based on UK flights from London (Heathrow) to Amman Queen Alia International Airport with Royal Jordanian. Outbound flights will depart from the UK in the evening, arriving at approximately 12 midnight (Day 1 of the Land Only itinerary). Return flights will depart in the late morning of the last day of the itinerary, arriving in the UK in the middle of the afternoon. Regional departures and/or alternative carriers are available on request. British Airways also have a service from London to Amman which flys direct on certain dates of the week. To avoid paying more for your flight, we recommend that you book as early as possible, especially during peak times as there are only a limited number of seats available at the advertised price. If we are unable to secure seats at the price shown, or you have requested regional departures, we will contact you with an alternative quote. We

PAGE 9 are also able to quote for premium, business and first class seats. Please be aware that you may be asked to pay for your flights in advance of your final holiday balance. Remember if you book a package including flights with KE you will benefit from full financial protection. Land Only Notes The LAND ONLY dates and prices are for the itinerary joining in Amman, Jordan. For clients making their own flight arrangements, Amman Queen Alia International Airport is the most convenient for transfers to the group hotel. Please refer to the 'Joining arrangements & transfers' for further details. Flights SHOULD NOT be booked until you have received your booking confirmation and the departure is showing 'Guaranteed to Run' or 'Limited'. Why Choose KE Adventure Travel? Why Choose KE Adventure Travel? Operating since 1984, KE Adventure Travel has some of the most experienced staff in the business, with the proven ability to set up and operate a worldwide programme of adventures. Everyone has adventure travel at heart and joins at least one trip a year. It is this depth of experience that makes KE stand out from other adventure travel operators. When you contact KE, by phone or e-mail, or visit our office, you will find the help and advice you need, from someone who has actually done the trip and can give you the benefit of their first-hand experience. KE can guarantee the very best in trip support, excellent food, a good standard of hotel and other accommodation, plus the back up of one of the most respected companies in the business. Client satisfaction is at the top of our agenda and almost 50% of our bookings each year come from repeat business. If you are looking for adventure then look no further than KE. Group Tour Leaders All of our holidays are accompanied by an experienced leader, some of whom have worked with KE groups for many years. Many are professional guides and instructors with an unrivalled knowledge of the areas in which they work. In many parts of the world, we recruit local guides with appropriate training and experience. In addition to having the technical skills to ensure your safety, KE expects its leaders to be active members of the group. A leader should be fun to travel with and ready to share with you their enthusiasm for adventure travel and their knowledge of the area. Alongside the group leader, there will be a local support crew, which could be just a driver, or a complete team of guides, drivers, porters, mule-herders and cooks. The hard work of our support crews, along with the fascinating insight they can offer into their local culture, is integral to providing you with the very best adventure travel experience. Sustainable Tourism Since we ran our first trip in 1984, we have been committed keeping the world's most beautiful places pristine by minimising our environmental impact. Recognising the fragility of the world's wilderness environments, we keep our groups small and operate according to a Mountain Code, which is provided to all groups, trek leaders, agents and staff. We make sure that our local staff are well treated and well paid, we respect indigenous cultures, take care to protect the environment of the places we visit and take every opportunity to make a positive contribution wherever we travel. Our philosophy of 'leaving nothing but footprints' has been integral to KE's approach right from the start over 30 years ago. In recognition of our efforts we are proud to have achieved the highest award of 5 Stars for Sustainable Tourism by AITO.

PAGE 10 We continue to travel responsibly, and more information on our policy, practice, and specific projects can be found at www.keadventure.com, and on the website of our partner charity the Juniper Trust: www.junipertrust.co.uk. KE's Mountain Code is issued to our staff, trek leaders and overseas agents, and we recommend it to our clients, too! Booking Your Holiday The easiest way to make your booking is online. You will need to pay a deposit at the time of booking. This is normally 200 but for some holidays with special permit fees or internal flights, this may be more. The amount of deposit required for an individual holiday is given on the dates and prices page of the holiday. Late bookings will require full payment. We cannot confirm any booking until we receive your fully completed booking form. Adventure Travel Insurance It is a condition of joining any of our trips that you are insured against medical and personal accident risks (to include repatriation costs, air ambulance and helicopter rescue services). We also strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance, as all deposits paid are non-refundable. Please ensure that your insurer is aware of your KE Adventure itinerary and can agree to cover the activities being undertaken. You will then need to advise us of your policy details and complete an Insurance Declaration Form. CAMPBELL IRVINE DIRECT travel insurance is available to EU residents and will cover the majority of KE Adventure holidays. It has been designed to provide cover for activities normally excluded by other insurers such as trekking, mountain biking and climbing. Please note that certain activities may attract a higher premium. In addition Campbell Irvine Direct cannot provide cover for KE climbing trips above 6000m. Cover for these can be obtained through either the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) or Snowcard. TRAVELEX is a USA based insurer offering travel insurance, which can be used by US citizens and US residents only. KE recommends the "Travelex Select" package for our holidays. If your holiday involves using mountaineering equipment (ropes, harness or crampons), for climbing or glacial travel, you should consider the "Adventure Plus Pak" optional upgrade on the Travelex Select Plan. Please refer to the 'Description of Coverage' for a summary of the terms, conditions, exclusions and limitations of the applicable Protection Plan. This policy will also cover KE climbing trips above 6000m. We hope that this trip notes has answered most of your questions. Please feel free to contact us and speak to one of our experts.
