(WING-TIPS) The Official Monthly Electronic Newsletter of the Southern Nevada EAA Chapter 1300 3500 Executive Terminal Drive Suite 285 Henderson, Nevada, 89052 Website: www.eaa1300.org April 2011 Volume 12, Issue 4 North Las Vegas Airport Open House The newsletter is going out a few days early to remind everyone about the VGT Open House this Saturday, April 9 th, 2011. It runs from 9AM to 3PM. The Chapter will have a booth and we plan to have a couple static displays and some projects in progress along with the rest of the events scheduled. Here s some info from CCAA s web site: CCAA Open House Saturday April 9th Over the past several years the Clark County Aviation Association has sponsored an Open House at both the Henderson and North Las Vegas airports. This year s Open House will be at the North Las Vegas Airport on Saturday, April 9, 2011 with the doors opening at 9:00 AM and closing at 3:00 PM. The event is FREE, and Open to the Public. The show itself will have a wonderful assortment of aircraft from almost every era of aviation from some of the truly antique to the more modern General Aviation aircraft. Many of the aircraft exhibited at North Las Vegas are not exhibited anywhere else which makes this event even more exciting for the antique aircraft buff. This is an event for all ages and is designed to stimulate interest in aviation as well as answering safety issues that the public may have. There will be something for everyone including a hands on glider simulator, radio controlled model aircraft exhibit and an indoor glider contest for the youngsters. A sample of exhibitors includes Metro, Clark County Department of Aviation, CAP, the 99 s and the FAA. http://www.ccaanv.org/html/home.html Next Meeting Location: At the Henderson Terminal Building meeting room at 7:30 PM on April 13 th, 2011. Informal dinner before will start at 6:00 PM at Nacho Daddy s on 9925 S. Eastern on the NW corner of St. Rose Parkway (north end of Lowes shopping center). http://www.nachodaddy.com/

2011 Officers and Directors: President: Vice President: Secretary: Treasurer: Roger Hansen Terry Frazier Sebastian (Seb) Trost Brian Prinzavalli Dean Herrington Kathleen Jones Randy Holland Presidents Corner I want to thank Glen Austin for allowing us to visit his business of maintaining Eclipse Jets. As a side note, we also were able to go next door and view a Gulfstream G-550 and see how the other half lives. Many of us enjoyed conversation with Mark and Mike Hulsey the twins that fly the airborne luxury suite. Mike, or is it Mark, also owns a Lancair 320 with one real nice glass panel in it... and the plane is for sale. Seems he is in need of a 4 place, if you are interested, you can contact Mark at 928-486-4334, price $60K. Meeting Plans April s meeting will be at HND terminal at the usual time of 7:30 PM and after the business meeting we will have our own Andy Johnson give you a flight report, along with video of his newly minted RV-12. Then we will have a chance to look over the plane and ask any questions you may have about building and flying his new E-LSA. Dinner Plans We now have two meetings worth of dinner at Nacho Daddy s and we saw an improvement in service and speed in which we received our food. One good thing is we have use of the separate eating room. We can still search out another restaurant in the area if someone has a suggestion. In any case, we will meet at Nacho Daddy s again on April 14 th at 6:00 PM for dinner. Just a note... During a B.O.D meeting this month, we unanimously voted to fund $500.00 toward Adam Edikauskas attending the EAA summer camp in Oshkosh this summer. Adam and his mother will be attending our meeting again in April, so please congratulate Adam and offer to involve him in airplane related project... that also includes flying!
