One (1) Carousel at Pier 62 This signature 36 ft. carousel features 33 hand-carved wood figures of Hudson River Valley animals and one chariot, allowing for up to 36 passengers per ride. The carousel building has been designed with a green roof and opens out to a large sprawling lawn and tree-lined pathways. 3
Park Family Events Like an urban drive-in, RiverFlicks Family Fridays brings the nostalgia of the outdoor movie setting back to New York City. Hudson River Park s Pier 46 is covered with blankets, chairs and people of all ages sitting under the stars, watching their favorite movies on the big screen. Location: Pier 46 Seven (7) nights in July and August Average attendance: 1,100+ Halloween Kidz Karnival has become an annual tradition for families from the New York City area. Costumed kids and parents enjoy a fun-filled day of activities and attractions including face painting, mask decorating, wax hands, cotton candy, rides and more! Location: Pier 26 October 31, 2015 Average attendance:2,500+ Family Entertainment Summer Series This family friendly event series features interactive storytelling from the Story Pirates and musical performances form some of NYC s favorite family bands! Location: Pier 25 June - August 4
Park Education & Environment Events SUBMERGE! - Day long festival devoted to bringing awareness to New York City s coastal waterways presented in partnership with New York Hall of Science. Marine scientists present research through hands-on activities and presentations. Interactive demonstrations bring marine science and engineering topics to life. Location: Pier 26 October 2015 Average Attendance: 4,500+ 5
Park Education & Environment Programs River Rangers - Hudson River Park offers budding scientists ages 3 to 9 an opportunity to learn more about something they might not experience too often in Manhattan the great outdoors! Locations: Pier 25 and 14 th Street Park June - August Pop Up Maker Space - Projects challenge, inspire and motivate participants to explore new technologies, discover old crafts and in many cases, combine the two. Programs have an interactive guided workshop, as well as a self-guided larger than life build. Locations: Pier 25 and 14 th Street Park June - August Big City Fishing - Fishing in New York City? You bet! Each summer, Hudson River Park offers Big City Fishing, a free program to those as young as five who are eager to learn how to fish and about the Hudson River environment. Locations: Pier 25, Pier 46 and Pier 84 June - August CMA Pier Art Program - Teaching artists from Children s Museum of the Arts facilitate hands-on artmaking activities including an individual mixed media project and a larger-scale collaborative project. Park Education & Environment Programs cont d Waterfront Orienteering - Learn about New York City s rich waterfront history during this nautically themed navigation tour. Develop basic orienteering skills using a compass and navigate the Chelsea waterfront. Location: Pier 66 June - August Hudson River Park Wild! - Learn about Hudson River Park s wildlife by joining experienced naturalists on guided nature walks along the Park s esplanade. Location: Park-wide May - October Sustainability Workshops - Learn how to set up a composting bin with NYC Compost Project and tune your bicycle with Gotham Bikes. You will walk away with new knowledge, resources and confidence for wasting less in New York City.
